Currently India is exploring in a region that is clearly defined as belonging to Vietnam by the UN and ratified by all nations including China.

If we find oil, Vietnamese get to keep it. Our claim to a share of that Oil will add additional bargaining chips during our Negotiations on resolving the border dispute with China.

Good decision. International waters are free for everyone. Just because its called the Indian Ocean, it does not belong to us. Same goes for the SCS.

Just like China must accept the IN in the SCS. There will be a presence but there is no doubt the IOR will remain under Indian control for the forseeable future just like the SCS will be dominated by the Chinese for the forseeable future.


If the GoI didn't accept this reality they would only be sticking their heads in the sand. It is good they are aware of the ground situation and thus can take the appropriate steps.

that is just the funniest thing about the indians, isn't it - they cannot do anything to stop china expanding ties with friendly south asian neighbors and they pat themselves on the shoulders and say that is only because they "accepted" such developments - pretty much the same way indians "accepted" chinese proposal to whop india's *** in 1962. given how indians gallantly "accepted" china for so long and so many times, one wonders why india has had such an aggressive, belligerent military history towards all its smaller neighbors since its independence. only the twisted, perverse psyche of the india nation can combine so easily its slavish acceptance of what was imposed upon it by its superior and its savage, sadistic bullying of those weaker than it.
