Credible? What is? Some official quoting an mid level police officer? That is credible? There is no court in the civilised world who would not laugh at the allegation. It is pure & simple hearsay & would not be taken as even being a actual statement that is made unless admitted to by the party who supposedly made it. Further that gentleman was nowhere in the picture simply being a police officer in Gujarat & being unconnected to the incidents he supposedly refers to. You think that is credible? Forget my other references. Your NSA accepted Kasab was a Pakistani, your FIA has submitted evidence in a court in Pakistan, showing involvement of the LeT & detailing the planning of the operation. JAMMU/SRINAGAR: Over a thousand Amarnath pilgrims remained stranded on Friday after the J&K authorities suspended the yatra and imposed curfew in major towns following widespread protests, triggered by Thursday's firing by BSF personnel in which four youths were killed in Ramban. The situation remained tense with sporadic incidents of violence in which two persons were injured in clashes with security forces.
Traffic on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway was closed on Thursday night as a precautionary measure and no fresh batches of Amarnath pilgrims were being allowed, sources said.

Police said protests spread to Doda and Kishtwar districts while Banihal, Kishtwar, Gool, Doda, Sangaldan and Bhaderwah observed a total shutdown. Some incidents of stone-pelting were reported from these areas where mobs attacked vehicles and shops. "The situation is tense but under control," said Rajesh Kumar, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu zone. He said additional security forces had been deployed in view of the three-day shutdown called by the separatists.

FIRs were registered against both BSF and state police for Thursday's violence. "We have registered three FIRs in Gool police station in connection with the firing," Rajesh Kumar said.

Official sources said two youths were injured when security forces opened fire while chasing stone-pelting protesters in Ganderbal district in central Kashmir, 21 km from Srinagar. Police resorted to pellet gun firing and teargas shelling to turn away protesters who hit the streets after the Friday prayers, Shahid Ahmad, SP said.

Clashes were also reported from several parts of the valley including curfew-bound Srinagar where business establishments remained closed. There were reports of protesters attacking vehicles, ferrying tourists to Srinagar airport.

Deputy Commissioner (Jammu), Ajeet Kumar Sahu, held a meeting with prominent citizens and members of the Muslim community in a bid to restore normalcy. Sahu also asked them to register their grievances, but avoid organising large gathering of protesters as "they may go out of control".

Meanwhile, the four youths who were killed in Thursday's firing have been identified as Manzoor Ahmad lecturer, Imam Abdul Latif Main, Farooq Ahmad and Javid Ahmad. Two of those injured in the firing are in critical condition in Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, doctors said.

Main opposition leader Mehbooba Mufti said law and order had "completely collapsed" in the state and accused police and security forces of being the "biggest violators".

"Justice will be done and those involved in the ghastly incident will be brought to book," said chief minister Omar Abdullah.
