I am astonished that 13 pages on this thread have gone without the mention of Konkani, Goan, Gomantak food.....
All I can say is that The Konkan coast food is unmatched when it comes to Seafood....
My defense to any offence in this regard is the restaurant Trishna in Mumbai....Although this is nothing compared to what one finds in the heart of the Konkan coast and the konkani/marathi/goan home, it packs enough punch to shut the naysayers..
Gimme Sol Curry, bombil (Bombay Duck), grilled pomfret, tadlela kolambi, Lobster/Tisracha sooka or coconut fish curry with rice any day over any kind of north/south, East/West food....
Trishna is a must visit for anyone who is travelling to Mumbai
