Do not go off topic and discuss Kashmir conflict, this is not the thread for it.

May be they find it difficult in LOC.... tried some where which they thought easy to sneak in ( I am just speculating )

I doubt it, I always thought that crossing LoC was easier than crossing IB.

. .
The Indian sources are saying that they foiled an infiltration attempt, Rangers are saying that it was unprovoked mortar fire on a village.
Unprovoked?? :woot: :omghaha:

Yeah! Like the Yindoos are bubble-heads who are trigger happy and get orgiastic pleasure whilst pumping a few bullets into PA positions across the LoC without reason!

Well pumping a few mortars on a village doesn't deter infiltrators does it? So yeah, it is unprovoked.

Oh bhai, as if pakistanis dont fire unprovoked. I dont know why they do (both sides), may be they use the ammo before expiry date.

.
But seriously, why always about Jihad? Ever since 9/11, Indian media and it's people have always used the terms Islamic terrorists and Jihad to gain international sympathy. With Pakistan being a Muslim nation, it has no real way of fighting this propaganda, especially with the US having an anti-Pakistan government at the moment.

It's a good strategy by the Indians, if a little...disagreeable.

What would you have us call them?
Their speeches talk about Islam conquering the land, they want to kill the Kafirs, they talk of Islam retaking the land from Hindus and when they blow themselves up in the trains of Mumbai to the markets of Delhi, they yell allahu akbar.

The infiltrators were pushed back into Pakistani territory and an extensive search operation was launched for any person who might have sneaked in, the official said.
Pushed back? But Mush had promised never to use Pakistani territory for doing bad, bad things against India!! :undecided: So how can these guys be Pakistanis? Must be Martians who materialize magically on the LoC supported by covering fire from the Moon! :cheesy:

Yet the conflict is very much a nationalist one. You want take the banner of crying Islamic terrorists, but in reality this is mostly about the region of Kashmir and it's people.

If anything, India gains more from a religious conflict than a nationalist one. Muslims aren't well like in the world, so if they turn this into a religious war, it's automatic international support for India.

JKLF was a secular organisation comprised primarily of local Kashmiri fighters. They did'nt give religious connotation to their struggle. Their agenda was an independent secular Kashmir.

This understandably miffed our western neighbour who gradually withdrew support from JKLF and started to promote fundoo organisations like Hizbul and LeT. Now Hizbul and LeT comprised Punjabi and Afghan/Pashtun fighters, much fiercer and tougher fighters than the local Kashmiris (this has been documented by Indian Army).

JKLF was gradually neglected, indeed there were numerous instances of fratricide involving Hizbul and JKLF fighters. In many cases JKLF hideouts were busted by Indian Army on tip offs recieved from Hizbul/LeT. Their military wing was decimated, now their leaders Amanullah Khan and Shabbir Choudhary have committed to a peaceful non-violent struggle.

To be frank both the countries have played a dirty game to safeguard their own interests. And yes it helps India to project this as another case of religious war, 9/11 did benefit us to some extent.

The mortar story is from your sources but even if it were true, it deters infiltrators plenty. Surely you are aware of protests in parts of Pakistan administered Kashmir when militants were seen moving around because they feared Indian shelling of their village in retaliation. Brutal maybe, ineffective, certainly not.
