Indian deputy consul general arrested in US on visa fraud charges

@neehar

There is 'much more' to this story than it seems.

@Chanakya's_Chant

We have blown the covers of 3 CIA station chiefs, forcing their expulsion in 3 years, which is unprecedented in recent history.

We have blocked NATO's supply routes twice and they are still blocked in KPK.

Please know your facts...Pakistan being a weak country as compared to the US, does stand its ground more often than India does.

thats what we're trying to say.theres much more than reported in the media.

u blocked nato routes not because a cia contractor killed some of your civilian but because you are being bombed on daily basis.and thats gonna be temporary as well soon they will get what they want.

What's India's next move? America continues to taunt and humiliate India. Will the PM and Sonia Gandhi at least stand up for India just once?

.
It appears the Americans are not budging at all on this controversy. What is India's next move to retrieve her honor?
They will. The action are in place. The reported pay $4500 was a cook up by US authorities. Keep watching she will be release of all charges followed by an apology!

RD wasn't a diplomat. Ou purpose was to conduct a show trial of the station chief of world's most powerful organization.

On your diplomat, it depends on to what extent does the diplomatic immunity covers her.

Personally i'd like to see her broken down so she never enslaves another women ever again.

@karan.1970

Meri jan, US is a superpower, Pakistan and India are not.

Soon, this hoo haa is going to co,e to en end.

Why are you acting in prejudice? None of us said that she must not be booked if she did wrong. But we are all against all hypocrites calling her criminal before trail starts.

FYI, there is media report that she never put wrong number in application but error made by US authorities and mistook her salary as maid's salary.

Wait an watch Pandora box is about to open..it will make USA to drop charges and apologize to India for misconduct!!

India is behaving like an ourengaten to protect a diplomat engaged in modern slavery.

India should have protected the maid instead. Looks like slavery is holy in India which needs to be protected even at the cost of a diplomatic spat.

Pakistan needs to learn from the US, which upheld its commitment to punish those who practice slavery and visa fraud on its soil.

We done US. :usflag:

Because she wasn't paid 4 lakh rupees per month, she is a slave? That makes the diplomat a slave as well, since she doesn't get paid that amount. Heck, the president of India doesn't make that much. You really don't know the meaning of slavery, if you think that a person who gets paid more than what the Indian middle class does, and gets all benefits like healthcare and residence, and was fully free to leave if she didnt like the job, is a slave. You are trivializing the shameful practice of slavery, where human beings were treated as the property of their owners, with no freedom to leave and no pay.

Modern day slavery, my foot. Why do some people use such self defeating hyperboles?

.
@sms

You seriously think that she should be scott free, if she's guilty of modern slavery?

No, what I'm trying to say .... do not act hypocrite and assume that she is guilty until proven.
None of us against USA law but we are against the treatment extended to our diplomats/ consular officers!

When will you guys get over the habit of boot-licking the Yanks? Though old habits die hard, you need to change your slave mentality, but you still continue in spite of all the humiliations heaped upon you by the US of A.

And you need to avoid posting garbage when you don't even know the real story behind the American conspiracy.

every host country must respect the socio economic conditions of the guest country and provide certain relaxations.if india was so much narrow minded as u.s we would have arrested their "companions" or atleast not allowed them visas as homosexuality is a crime here.we would have arrested their spouses who are working with out a working visa.we've not done so because we are civilized and respect their social conditions.not every country may afford to have a maid at $4500 pm...

Why do many think that it is a god given right for the diplomats to have a maid or a nanny? Not everyone in US can afford a maid - even the people who earn twice or more than what the consular official under question earn. They end up paying $1000-2000 for day care per child and spend additional dollars for the evenings and weekends if they want baby-sitters and do all the remaining household chores by themselves. And men are pretty handy at doing basic fixes at home as the labor is expensive. Even Indians living here in US do the same. What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

Your feeling is already mentioned in the article itself..!!

"Pakistanis are watching with envy as India is reacting to the treatment meted out to its deputy consul-general Devyani Khobragade by Washington," said an article in News International.

Visa fraud and slavery are serious issues in the US. I don't expect her to be scott free any time soon.

Its GOI which in the end would have to stop its rhetoric.

As many said before, its not about the VISA issue, its about an Indian representative being treated out there.. As far as news goes, she is expected to scott free.. There are many instances where US diplomats were in the same situation as the Indian diplomat and they were released.. US are going to do the same thing with INdian diplomat also.. Instead of GoI, some of the members here should stop the same rhetoic again and again..

@Sashan, you have to understand that, being a diplomat, she had to do work in odd hours and its not practical to hire a maid from US..Sangeeta agreed with terms here and 30000 rs isnt that bad for a nanny.. Yes, giving false information for visa was a wrong move but statement like maid was mistreated is just some imagination of some people..

@seiko

There seems to be unseen variables in this case. Lets see how it turns out in the end.

Indeed, there is more than what meet the eyes.. Certain rumours are flying around about it also.. Let us see.

BTW, I think its time to merge all the threads.. We are going circles around all the thread about the same matter..
