Indian Cryogenic Engine GSLV D3 Failed

OK, failure is the pillar of success. This was the first flight of GSLV mk-II with Indian cryogenic engine. Russian cryogenic engines failed as well. But most horrible is GSAT-4.... It was the most advanced communication satellite ever developed by India... Number of firsts....

1) Xenon based Electric Propulsion System;
2) Integrated Bus Management Unit (BMU) which combines the functions of Telemetry, Telecommand, Sensor Electronics and Control Electronics;
3) 1553 Bus for Data Communication;
4) Miniaturised Dynamically Tuned Gyros;
5) 36 AH Lithium Ion Battery;
6) 70 V Bus for Ka band TWTAs.
7) First GAGAN satellite navigation module.

:-( Best try next time.

their rocket is not even reliable and they want to send human to space.

And you would be amazed that now we want even more, to send human to space.

"Shehad ka swaad vahi le paate hain, jo pehle madhu-makhi ke jhund tak pahunchne ki himmat karte hain."

It was India's first test of it's own Cryogenic engine. I hope you know how complex of a system it is. Look here to know..

This is not a first failure for ISRO, many have happened before. And like before they have been overcome. Not every country can launch 10 satellites in one go.

We trust our scientists, and we know they will learn from the mistake and will deliver.

P.S. : I hope you comment on the thread next year when GSLV is launched successfully, and also when India sends human to space.

don wry mate... lessons are hard learned. it took time for us to develop these things... but certainly wont take much time for manufacturing them again. cheers mate...:cheers:

This is what saddens me the most. Not the money part of it. As these needs to be viewed as investments for on our future.

Some good news from unconfirmed sources that the Cryoengine worked but not sure though. Lets see after the official statements comeout in a weeks time.

नई दिल्ली।।

you are rite... the cryogenic engines ignited and worked well. but the small rockets used to stabilize the rocket(vernier rockets) failed and thus GSLV deviated from its path...:hang2:

Failure happens for better future...

ISRO learnt one more "Don'ts" which will help to create success...

one sher dedicate for this failure:-

"Girte hain Shah sawar hi Maidan-e-jung mein
Wo kya girenge jo ghutnon ke bal chalte hain"

.
BETTER LUCK NEXT TIME

I am happy the first mission failed...Am not sarcastic....this will help us learn more and achieve more...

Cheers

Jai Hind. Cryogenic engine is very very complex and sensitive technology. We will be successful next time.

ISRO did a great job. But I could not agree with one thing from the first, they should not launch GSAT-4 with a launch vehicle which they are test firing for the first time. BTW GSATs are mean to launch with GSLV only.

Some good news from unconfirmed sources that the Cryoengine worked but not sure though. Lets see after the official statements comeout in a weeks time.

mate, after the mission was over ISRO chairman speaking to the media confirmed this as a failure and....

* Flight performance as predicted upto burnout of stage 2
* The cryogenic engine seems to have ignited, but needs to be confirmed with further analysis
* The vernier engines added with the cryogenic engine seem to have failed losing control of the vehicle. Needs to be confirmed with data
* Within one year, we will launch once again.

His last statement is most important. :tup:

.
They were so confident too. It looks like they focused too much on the cryogenic engines and maybe forgot the 15 millionth check about the verniers.

ya... scientists back there were reaaly checking and analysing every inch of the engine... and there u go, it worked. but not the others.. jus like our ABM test...
anyways lessons are hard learned... i wish ISRO best of luck in its next trial... :bounce:
