The fourth test of India's "Nirbhay" land-attack cruise missile (LACMs), designed to carry nuclear or conventional warheads failed on Wednesday, reported the Times of India.
All the four tests of the subsonic missile, with a strike range of 1,000km, have failed to achieve the required test parameters.
"The test was an utter failure, with the missile veering to the right within two minutes of take-off," ToI quoted a source.
The missile's first test in March 2013 had completely failed. The second one was dubbed "a partial success" in October 2014 but the third test in October 2015 also failed miserably, said the report.
According to the report, the missile had to be destroyed in mid-air after it deviated from its flight-path along the coast in Bay of Bengal soon after launch from the Integrated Test Range at Balasore, off the Odisha coast around noon on Wednesday.
The Indian armed forces already have the supersonic BrahMos cruise missiles, developed with the help of Russia, but they have a range of only 290kms with the ability to carry conventional warheads.
"The Nirbhay, a stealth missile in the making for almost a decade now, was meant to fulfill the armed forces' demand for nuclear-tipped land-attack cruise missiles versatile enough to be fired from land, air and sea. The missile was said to be a counter to Pakistan's Babur LACM."
Cruise missiles such as the Nirbhay, are designed to fly at low-altitudes, virtually hugging the terrain, to evade enemy radars and missile defence systems, the report said, adding that the Nirbhay, after an initial blast off with a solid-propellant booster engine, is supposed to deploy its smallish wings and tail fins in the second-stage to fly like an aircraft.
"The missile, which flies at a speed of 0.6 to 0.7 Mach and carries a 300-kg warhead, is designed to be highly maneuverable with "loitering capabilities" to first identify and then hit the intended target."

. . . .
seriously we need again our great missile man Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. these bastards neta-bapu nexus will destroy everything. they all should be hanged.

Failure make you learn and perfect..but in case of India it is trying to reinvent the wheel.

India’s Nuclear-Capable Cruise Missile Test Launch Fails for the 4th Time

On Wednesday, India’s Nirbhay land-attack cruise missile failed a testing attempt yet again.

The Failure was not the First of its Kind
This is the fourth time that the Nirbhay cruise missile has a failed a test attempt since its first test dating back to March 2013.

The first one was tested back in March 2013. It was done the second time in October, and for the third time in October 2015 while the latest one was tested just yesterday.

The missile was launched from the Integrated Test Range at Balasore off the Odisha coast around noon on Wednesday. It started to go off-course by veering to the right within only two minutes to take-off, thus it was pretty clear that the missile is a failure and had to be destroyed mid-air along the coast in Bay of Bengal.

The Defense Research and Development Organization (DDRO) has actually been quite successful in the past when it came to a variety of different missiles which ranged from 700km to 5,000km, but the same cannot be said for their luck with cruise missiles.

Details about Nirbhay Cruise Missile
The Nirbhay is a land-attack, low cost and long range cruise missile, which would be capable of carrying nuclear warheads after a successful test. The missile weights around 1,500kg, is 6 meters long, and has a range of more than 1,000km. The missile is capable of flying at a speed of Mach 0.6-0.7.

The Nirbhay missile is designed to be a stealth missile. When it’s launched, its designed to fly at low altitudes, “virtually hugging the terrain” as they call it, to avoid being detected by enemy radars and missile defense systems.

The launch is done with the help of a solid propellant booster rocket engine to gain speed and altitude, and once it has enough altitude, it is supposed to fly like an aircraft after deploying small fins which act like wings.

This Nirbhay cruise missile had been under development for almost ten years now. It was meant to help the armed forces of India counter Pakistan’s Babur LACM, a similar cruise missile with the same attributes.

However, it seems, Nirbhay isn’t going to see the light of the sun anytime soon.

LOL.
We don't need Nirbhay to counter Hong Niao-1B, BrahMos with it's range of 600 km is more than for enough HN-1B aka Babur.

. . .
Can you explain in a non retard manner how HN-1B == Babur ?
Its simple actually, HN-1B was developed(reverse engineered) from KH-65SE which China received in 1999 from Ukraine.

Pakistan purchased this missile in 2004.

Your P-800 Oniks is an overpriced useless weapon against Pakistan.
Babur is practically useless against Barak'-8 whereas Pakistan has nothing to stop BrahMos.

I asked in a non retard way. You are going full retard now. As if you were hired as an escort and were present in the drawing rooms during Chinese-Ukraine deal as well as when pakistan signed deal with Chinese in 2004.

And if you are basing your observation that X looks Like Y hence X==Y. You must look at your own Nirbhay, It looks very similar to Russian Klub cruise missiles does it mean India purchased/copied Russian sub sonic cruise missile ?

Anyways the fact that Babur is nothing but an Ukrainian missile, is confirmed by this book published by Stanford University Press and authored by Stanford University partner think tank International Assessment and Strategy:

I have read the link, there is not a single evidence provided by author to prove his conjecture. So stop sucking up to unknown sources and provide one hard and factual evidence to prove your senseless hypothesis

Lol.
Stanford University Press is an unknown source.Typical Lahori logic.:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Anyways here is another Article by Dr Carlo Kopp
Photographs of Pakistan's new Babur cruise missile, recently revealed, bear considerable similarity to the baseline Kh-55. We should not be surprised to learned at a future date that it is a licenced variant of a Chinese clone of the Kh-55. Pakistan's licence manufacture of other evolved but earlier cloned Russian hardware, such as MANPADS, supplied via China, makes for a good precedent.
