Indian concerns over Seventh Fleet entry into Bay and Bangladesh elections

One must doubt this news in first place.

India is always going to influence Geo-Politics of this region and BD has accepted this reality for good, like India who has been very proactive in keeping good relationship with China, unlike Pakistan who is paying the price for messing with heavy weight neighbour.

Having said that, Muslim nation are vulnerable to lying down flat and miscalculating their security calculus when engaging with powerful countries. The situation becomes more complicated when their religious Itch against soft Hindu India with their delusion that Hindus are the pushovers; they feel more invited to solve their issues by confrontations, bullying and acting as proxies of states they assume are enemies of India.

There is pro Pakistan lobby with Bangladeshi flags who have been even found apologetic for BD independence, neglecting and trying to project this new development only against India but not China. Their double talk will always prevail but be limited to mere propaganda because China isn't going to complaint even if she would like to as they aren't doing the same against American presence in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

If those BD posters think BD be able to act independent, would leverage USA's presence in BoB against India then I would call their day dreaming as pure underestimation of Indian diplomatic wisdom and misread of Indo-US partnership of many conveniences.
There is no hindu muslim thing in international diplomacy. I dont think bangladesh will ever host 7th fleet without tacit agreement from India, no matter who is in govt there.

. .
It's the US we're talking about. They have the financial muscle to get it done without India's tacit agreement.

You overestimate things. BoB is too small for two large navies. Only one will remain in control - take a guess as to which one.

USN has Deigo Garcia in the Indian Ocean. They do not need BD ports. Considering the shipping routes, BD port calls would be way off the important routes to be of any value to the USN.

Well, I don't know why they want to use our ports. Heck, I don't even know whether the news is from an authentic source.

No sea/bay/gulf is too small for multiple navies, unless there's a war.

For my two cents the country that Bangladesh will consider most important in this scenario is not India but china. I do not think even BAL will place Indias interest too highly here.

Bangladesh is in a difficult situation it can not ignore US request.

In my opinion Bangladesh should not grant US access.

Whatever happens there is a delicate balance in the region where
Bangladesh if possible should try to keep out of big power games.

What I fear is that Bangladesh may not be able to resist an US
Request. It will have long term implication for Bangladesh
Sovereignty.

I absolutely support a US base in Bangladesh, we should ask for full civil nuclear cooperation, so we can start building nuclear reactors for power generation which we badly need. Coal has too much green house gas.

China is not in the US/West league yet, when it becomes a competitor to the US, we will think about its concern. Note folks, most of us are sitting in USA/West, having a life no China or India is going to offer us. Our migrant workers earn in GCC, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, protected by or allied with the US/West. Our RMG exports mostly go to US/West. Sure they killed a bunch of Muslims due to their and our stupidity, but they have a big heart and we cannot deny it, and this GWOT is a tragedy for all. We just need to inform them more, so they do not repeat this mistake. We can be the next Turkey for Eastern Asia, a strong and liberal Muslim country, with a rising economy, a powerful fearsome army and an enviable democracy.

I think Bangladesh should provide a refueling and maintenance facility to the US and other countries except India. I do not think Bangladesh is ready for a full fledged base installation. We should keep the US happy as we cannot afford to anger America. At the same time we should also strengthen our relations with China. China will not come forward for at least another 15 years so we have to make the US our choice. In every country that the US has a presence it has advanced economically, politically and military. Are we to deny these things to our citizens because we pretend we are good Muslims. What a stupid idea! Nearly every Muslim country has relations with the US but we think we are better Muslims so we do not! This is a dumb idea ......

When India is just like 100 feet away from BD why in the world would require Bangladesh as a refueling facility?:girl_wacko:

If he had that much sense, he would have been a **real** general as opposed to a armchair one!!!! :D

I think it needed to be pointed out that India is excluded. It should be a policy of deliberate exclusion regardless of geography.

Of course it is your sovereign right to come with such policy. But I seriously doubt you have any leader who can even try that symbolism.

Jeez...do you guys absolutely have to bring the religion card the whole time? :P Rest of it are all nonsense.

And speaking of recklessness, please - go have a look in the mirror.

I just said US/Western bloc love to see on power our two begums like personalities (without personality in fact :P) like they installed both in Iraq and Afghanistan. Did you see that these two begums ever took part or interfered in any international issue like Zia, Ershad did (or even Mujib)? US likes such people on throne.

Mujib's assassination apparently had CIA backing.

Any ascends throne on a country like Bangladesh serves foreign interest somehow visibly/invisibly. You have to feel that, there are IMF, World Bank, ADB...they take care of that. But they (western bloc) don't need to be served by these two begums, they are just dolls. If you really like to know if they are somehow serving their interests or not, you needn't go further..just look at Oil/Gas giants dancing on our soil. Did we get any compensation for Magurchara (sorry..forgot the exact name) incidents...no. If Zia/Ershad were there they would have some stance on this. Look at BP, they are bound to compensate US a big bucks for last year's incident on US bay.

That's the beauty of Capitalism. Socialism has already failed this country.

I already said about it in my previous post if ever revolt (against US/Western bloc) easier to kill plotting coup or remove from throne by mass revolution. They'll have some nice treatment for these stupid behavior but this time I think there's another chemistry with our PM, FM or all ministers.

Indeed, what lies ahead within the 15-20 years time would be interesting.

Hope this happen spontaneously by the people of BD not being played as doll of others which in turn will in future make the same scenario. What I believe is peoples' might is above all, if we are united, no one can intrude upon us.

Agreed about the unity part

You want US to be satisfied with a naval base in Diego garcia that lies 3000south of SL? The next US base is in Singapore. US will certainly would like to fill in the blank in between. Indian navy is no match even for a combined Pakistani and BD navies, let alone the Chinese navy. In comparison to Indian navy USA navy is too big and not too outstretched.

US has declared BOB security is the responsibility of Bangladesh. USA is only endorsing what Bangladesh has proposed about the role it wants to play in its Bay, nothing else. Your number cannot dissuade us from achieving what is in our national interest. We will just kick Indian Hanumans' *** out of BoB. Just stay the hell out of our water, you will do a favour to yourself.
