Its the priorities that people have. Education versus water. Mars explorer and $20 billion Rafale versus providing water pumps and bathrooms to villagers.

Village life is full of these adventures against all odds ..I will be surprised if these kids themselves agree with your cricodile tears ..If mangalyaan or other success comes against these odds then its that much sweeter for us ...Dont worry these pic belongs to rare category thats why its a news ...Now before preaching anyone try to emulate it within your society ..

Providing drinking water is job of local bodies ie gram panchayath in case of villages ..As per artcle they are providing it through tankers ..But for drinking people wont abandon their age old source that easily ..They use borewell water for agriculture and for drinking purpose borewell water is not healthy due to sulphate and dissolved solids ..It wont taste that good too ..I am not saying that there is no water scarcity in each and every corner of the country but being a basic necessity there is ample fund available for drinking water purpose as I know because I am a govt employee ..Anyhow there are exceptions in every society but that doesnt mean we should wait for every well to be filled up before taking up any scietific adventure or that of national importance ..Dont worry much about us as we know our priorities ..and make sure that nobody else need to worry about you too

What is wrong in sending a kid to fill the buckets? They are light and small and can do this job more safely and easily than any adult. As a child I myself used to get water from our well like that.

money is the problem.. we don't have the money for infrastructure in every part of the country... western media always report these kind of news about all the Asian countries.. they never care about the problems in their country. it is very funny to report others problem.

Every issue facing is allocated its own budget. The difference is that the money allocated for Mars mission was not misused or did not reach corrupt politicians or contractors. While theese projects for public are easily misused and most of it does not reach to the poor. Even if you put all the money 100% of GDP , the result would be almost the same.

What well is not rocky and deep? It is dangerous only if the well is filled with water and the child can't swim. It's not like the kids are left in the well and everyone goes home to eat.

I hope that the agricultural community learns to conserve water and that the surrounding villages are provided water from the tubewells that supply the crops.

We report those news all the time. Its not like people or Government is unaware or hiding from these problems. We and government are trying to solve these problems. Unfortunately there is communication problem between people, leaders and government officials. Most of the projects undertaken does not show results because of poor panning and low quality by contractors. Even in small village there are projects worth crores are being done but with less results. As far as my state is concerned, I am positive. The government pretentiously started a program to connect all the houses across the state with Tap connections in next four connections. I am positive on that one.

The whole issue is that the government gives the funds and they are not given results. That is corruption whichever level it is on... The government is not exposed here but the faulty contract and the corrupt official who approved the quality are. This way the central government knows what is going on with funds and changes laws.

I am positive on that one.

Why do you think it's a joke? Fetching water from the well used to be our daily task, and no, it does not involve any more risk than taking your kid to school in a car.

And tube wells are not very successful in regions where water is too low and too scarce. The government is digging canals everywhere, so this process of fetching water from wells is not practiced as widely anymore.

May be in Pakistan there is no dearth of water and people there get all the amenities 24x7, so coming from such a highly developed country, you probably won't understand. Fetching water from the well, and even bathing in it, can be a lot of fun, provided you ever had the chance to do it.

Water conservation is a priority for the Indian government, this is why the desert on the Indian side is shrinking, while across the border... it is another story. Got the idea?
