You can see the HAWK specs here.

IAF is gonna get 24 HAWKS from England and rest will be made by HAL under TOT.

So the IAF armaments are not decided yet.

How many will be further developed and are already planned?

The Mig-25 was developed in an era when the Soviet Union and U.S. would still have utilised bomber aircraft to deliver nukes. The role of the Mig-25 was to intercept U.S.'s supersonic bomber. Unfortunately by the time that the Mig-25 was operational most nukes were being deployed on Ballistic missiles against which the Mig-25 is useless.

The Mig-25 was so focussed on speed to intercept U.S. supersonic bombers it was hopeless in all other areas.

Is this story related to the U-2 incident? I remember reading the history book regarding this incident. U.S was used to spy on Soviet nuclear program most of the time, and the aircraft that was available to U.S U-2, was quite impressive and was beyond the reach of Soviets, until one time they shot down the aircraft. The tensions were furthur soar apart.

With the above information you have given, i must assume that Mig-25 was also made for countering the U.S reconnaissance planes? Until the successfull tests of ballistic missiles?

Indeed, thats the correct role for Mig-25.

You never know.

IAF has some 8 MiG-25's and we dont need them anymore for their Mach 3 Recco since we have our own sats.

But then again it carries BrahMos.

So you never know.

Miro

P.S: - And before anybody comes with an argument of MiG-25 carrying BrahMos, I have picture to prove it.

There will be no future sorties for Mig-25 over Pakistan for two reasons;
IAF is retiring the machine and Pakistan has deployed SA-2 so the Mig can easily be downed.
SA-2 can hit the target at 80.000ft, wel above Mig-25's range.

No offence dude but SA-2 is ancient.

IAF has already scrapped and even very few batteries of SA-3 are in service.

Also forget about SA-2 bringing down the MiG-25

<div class='bbimg'></div>

This is the SA-2 of IAF at the AF museum Palam,Delhi.

We bought it in 1964/65 and now all missile batteries are disbanded.

Read everything about SA-2 Click Here

Please check your claims again.

Air force cheif has clarified the initial confusion about increasing the order to 126 MRCAs to 190 by saying that the extra ordered would be for the naval air arm, almost meaning that the order wud be a mix of 70 F 18 and a20 russian or french fighters.

CCS clears production of 20 more Jaguar aircraft.
Also cleared are FSD of 20 Tejas aircraft and production of five inland patrol vessels for Coast Guard.

With the US Congress debating the Indo-US nuclear deal, a top Indian military team will be in Washington mid-April to finalise New Delhi’s first weapon purchase from the US since last year’s defence framework—the USS Trenton amphibious warship. The Naval team, headed by Assistant Chief Rear Admiral Robin Dhowan, will tie up the Letter of Offer and Acceptance for Trenton. The CCS will take it up in June. Since it’s a direct government-to-government sale there will be no price negotiation, allowing for fast approval.

The purchase, agreed in principle, will make India the first country apart from the US to own and operate an Austin-class landing vessel. The 35-year-old warship is currently undergoing a refit and upgrade in Norfolk, Virginia. While the Navy’s pair of Magar-class landing ship tanks (LSTs) can transport and land 500 troops or 15 armoured vehicles onto a beach, the much larger Trenton can land 1,500 troops. It can also be used to land large amounts of relief in the event of a tsunami-like disaster.
