Amritsar: A sixty year old lady from Pakistan was shot dead by the Border Security Force (BSF) early on Monday in Bariyala in Gurdaspur Sector. BSF personnel spotted some suspicious movement near the fence along the India-Pakistan border, a BSF official said.

He said despite repeated warning by the BSF personnel the sixty year old lady kept on marching towards the Indian side after which the troops opened fire at her.

The official said that the area where the incident took place is surrounded by the Ravi River from three sides.

Asked if any recovery has been made from the spot where the sixty year old lady was shot dead, he said the search operation in the area was under progress (for more old ladies).

*Mod Edit: "Intruder" and "Him" were such strong pronouns for a grandmother, they made her seem like a terminator, so I replaced them - Icarus*

Indian border forces kill 60-year-old 'Pakistani' woman for 'trespassing'

Indian border forces allegedly killed a 60-year-old 'Pakistani' woman early on Monday on the suspicion that she was intruding into Indian territory, The Hindu, an Indian daily, reported.

The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) shot her dead along the border between Pakistan and India in the Gurdaspur area, The Hindu said.

"The incident took place at around 3am in Bariyala of the Gurdaspur sector, when the BSF personnel spotted a suspicious movement along the Indo-Pak border," said the report.

“The woman, aged nearly 60 years was challenged and asked to stop, but when she continued to march towards the Indian territory, she was shot at, resulting in her death,” a senior BSF official was quoted as saying.

The women had covered her face at the time she was shot dead and the BSF personnel did not know it was a woman, claimed the official.

Woman, 60, Marching. Never thought I'd see these words being used in one sentence. Utter shamelessness.

I have lived in Sialkot for a while and have family whom I visit occasionally close to the border. Straying across the border is very common, especially since it's just long farming fields. Whenever someone strays into our border: the rangers just 'arrests' the person, gives them biryani and juice (I have heard cases where people are purposefully 'straying' into the border, just to be fed), do some paperwork and send them back via the working boundary.

The Indians however, if you were to do as much as point towards their border; you would be shot, right there and then.

First of all, what was that 60 year old woman doing at 3 am at the border? Why was she trying to cross the deadly borderline towards enemy nation? Why didn't she stop when challenged? The incident happened in the darkness of night, the heat signature just showed an intruder trying to get into Indian territory. She had covered her face probably was wearing a burqa. There was no way to figure out the identity, whether the person really was a woman or a terrorist. BSF men did their duty. This could very well have been a ploy to get close to Indian forces, and trigger a blast.

Wow what an explanation for a murder

Now they will claim it was a successful surgical strike. :disagree:

Maybe they already have, given the doctored title of the original thread.

Whatever you say, but anything and everything coming illegally across the boarder will meet the same fate. Pakistan should also take similar stand. :)

That said the number of people crossing illegally from Pakistan is too large than the other way around I guess. :)

I have a relative living in Mars. They say whenever earthlings stray into border they are provided with Martian marbles and are sent to earth. Many people stray just to get those marbles. But the same is not true for evil earthlings.

Now prove me wrong

She was warned repeatedly, after that the security forces didn't take any chance and one can easily understand why, it's their life on the line......
You can do as much propaganda with this as you like but fortunately, there are more people who can think logically than there are gullible persons.

Yeah I bet granny was steaming towards the BSF like a ninja, they were scared for their lives.

Speaks volumes of their ineptitude.

Because we have many unwanted guest crossing over the borders to enter India to carry out jihad against us.
