What's new

Indian bases to open doors to US warships, planes

Not at all.

We have been contained by both the enemy superpowers during the Cold War. First we fought the USA + 16 of her allies in the Korean War (pushing them into the longest retreat in the history of the American armed forces), then we fought directly against the USSR during the Sino-Soviet split.

It's much easier to deal with and understand pawns of the superpowers than it is to understand a truly independent country.

And it's not new news either:

India pleaded for US help against China in 1962 - Times of India

India as an independent power would have been a true competitor, an American pawn on the other hand is just business as usual.

You conclusion may be correct but not your reasoning

Let's assume China always considered India to be a non-independent state as you claim by posting India's request for US help in 1962. With this as the basis china has already factored in India as a rival/threat & adopted the string of pearls strategy on India which resulted in India fully embracing US now (but this was already factored by China). So from China's perspective, Why would US & India fighting China as a combined force better than US and India fighting China Independently ?

The primary reason it would be good for China is not because India has allied with US but because by fully embracing US, India has forsaken Russia which would now be compelled to fully embrace China and Pakistan.

You're not missing anything at all.

We respect independent powers, not vassal states of America.

See what happened when China seized the Scarborough shoal from the Philippines in 2012, despite them having a full "mutual defense treaty" with America.

Did their "mutual defense treaty" with America help them one bit? Or did it end up hurting them, as they naturally expected America to come and help, which didn't happen.

This other country had the same thing happen to them first hand, they lost a large portion of territory called Aksai Chin:

India pleaded for US help against China in 1962 - Times of India

What is common here? Both countries expected America to come and help them, both countries lost territory. Like the Ukraine in 2014, or Georgia in 2008.

America is basically throwing the territory of their pawns away like candy. And those pawns are now looking at their maps and wondering, what happened?

Hell, it's happening right now in the South China Sea. Territory is being acquired at an unprecedented rate. Thanks to America. :azn:

A China which can not defeat Vietnam is talking big mouth.

India does not need American manpower. It needs technology transfer and joint developments ( not via stealing as china does). India is not a banana republic like Chinese pals ( Pakistan and North Korea). India is neither India of 1962 ruled by an idelaist.

Modi is very pragmatic. He does not believe in idealism. The above agreement is not to station american troops ( Pakistan has stationed Chinese troops without any agreement in Certain J&K region) but to share common facilities and is on mutual basis. China will get worried with these progressive developments. One thing you need to remember is that India is ONLY NOW getting into these partnerships with yearsssss of negotiations on terms acceptable to it. Infact , the agreement is also not the standard agreement USA signed with others. It is..as always ..special and different agreement, unique to India.

Best part is, you will find no opposition in India. Today's newspaper has only lauded it all across. The fear of left opposition was such a meaningless rationale of Congress.

Are you acknowledging again that the scarborough Shoal was clearly sovereign territory of the Philippines? Because everybody else (Including the UN) thinks that island and many of the others are just being squatted on. So how can they invoke a defense treaty on territory that isn't even clearly theirs?

But if China wants to admit it was clearly owned by the Philipines then they can use it in the SCS negotiations.

Or do want to take your statement back as nonsensical drivel that you keep repeating over and over and over and over.

Your excuses are getting more and more hilarious.

While on the ground, actual territory has been gained. Not just that, but it is happening as we speak. Not just Scarborough shoal, the Paracel islands, and all over the SCS.

America the global policeman, making excuses as for why they haven't helped any of their allies while they were losing territory to China and Russia. Which is ongoing as we speak.

Weak excuses. Nobody believes they are actually going to do anything, or they would have done it already.

We helped Taiwan. You guys couldn't even take back a little island. More years of perpetual humiliation for you, Oh wait you have that perpetual weak excuse about them being a "special autonomous territory". Yeah that territory of yours with a huge American built radar and us military equipment on it. Yes, you have your own hilarious weak excuses to explain away....

US Navy planes in Taiwan get a big welcome...China's get shot down.

Seems like your desperation is forcing you to change the topic.

China is a developing country, we have our own plans in our own time frames.

America the "global superpower" on the other hand is running away crying from developing countries. Do you think Rome would have done that? Or just the magical USA? :azn:

It is frankly the most pathetic thing I've seen in recent world history. The Native Americans deserve their land back.

Meanwhile we continue to build in the SCS... while a certain global policeman continues crying about it. Thanks for the Scarborough shoal, the Paracel islands, and the rest of the SCS. Global policeman. :D

Your country has been around for thousands of years....and you are "still developing". Can you just humiliate yourself even more?? Talk about weak weak excuses.

Sure we are an Ancient civilization that fell off the track for a while.

America though is an artificial creation, caused by the massacre of over 100+ million Native Americans and stealing their land.

But still they are forced to run away crying from developing countries.

Too bad your education system is bad in China otherwise you would realize that 100 million number you just quoted is impossible for the area where the US is located. But keep humiliating yourself on this forum. It's fun to watch.

Any country can get out of this agreement if they feel this agreement is harming its own strategic interests.

India is not a push over, India has clear cut strategy regarding economic and military development.

China is not seen as a threat but the border disputes may damage the relations.

.
Compare

China - North Korea - Pakistan

India - USA - Japan

which block will heaven support ??

Go check the population estimates of North America before they were wiped out, the figure is around 100 million.

But I'm sure they just vanished into thin air.

America doesn't have a history, it is a creation of genocide and theft. Like you pointed out yourself, natural countries have thousands of years of history. Not a few hundred.

I'm going to give you a quick geography lesson since you continue to humiliate yourself.
The US is not the entire continent of North America.

There are close to 50 countries and territories in North America:
North America - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The vast majority of Native Americans lived south of the US border. They liked the warm area near the equator (where there is no snow and they could grow food all year). There was never anywhere close to 100 million Native Americans in what is now the US. That's like saying there are 500 million Russians in Northern Siberia.

I'm always reminded when reading posts by some Chinese members on PDF of the school bully who is always trying to overcompensate with bravado and juvenile bragging to make up for a serious inferiority complex. The kind of kid who doesn't understand why no one wants to be his friend and so he ridicules everyone and threatens everyone to make up for his shortcomings and gain attention.

the Indians have not let the nostalgia of serving the white master and deep down they desire the return of same.

is that why Pakistan is still serving white masters of USA since Independence?

The current "white master" finds that amusing.

'shrug' if that's the way you want to see it then I'm sure more 'great news' will be happening in the future! :D

We are continuing to entrench in the region, expand our presence, and increase our capability to safeguard our allies. We have just started joint patrols with the Philippines for example.

The more China continues with its expansionist policies, the more it alienates the region, the more secure our position is.

You want to play the big bad? Be my guest! :yahoo:

Im pretty sure I set you straight on this before, but it might have been someone else.

100 million is the combined population of North, Central, and South America.

The overwhelming majority of that (around 80-90%) died to disease brought from the old world by Europeans, primarily the Spanish and Portugese.

Estimated native population for all of North America is 2-18 million.

Well said, the fact of the matter is that our relationships in the region are growing as well our military presence. For a country that wants to expel the US from the region, their doing a horrible job of it. China's actions are playing right into our hands. That guy can flap his gums all he wants, but it won't change that fact.
