Pakistan is a smaller nation with much lesser military capabilities. India has showed them the way multiple times. It's idiotic to even think India, with 8 months of preparation would not have been able to handle the Pakistanis.
The results are quite apparent too. India joined the war on 3rd and instrument of surrender was signed two weeks later, shows the decisiveness. It's the war that led Pakistan to surrender, else they would have subdued the civil unrest, may be with higher number of Birangona and higher casualties.
