Jodhpur, Oct 18: A military court holding general court martial proceeding against an army officer, accused of faking killings of enemy troops in Siachen last year, today watched video of the staged encounter.

Jodhpur, Oct 18: A military court holding general court martial proceeding against an army officer, accused of faking killings of enemy troops in Siachen last year, today watched video of the staged encounter.
Prosecution played the seven minute video in the court while examining eye witness Nayab Subedar Phatta Bahadur Thapa who narrated entire sequence of events of the fake encounters staged by Maj Surinder Singh in August and September last year.

The witness also identified the voice in the video of that of Maj Singh and land marks shown in the video shoot.

The seven-member jury, headed by brig. A D S Grewal, overruled the objections raised by defence counsel R S Randhawa that there was no justification of showing video to the witness. Similarly the objection to voice
identification by Thapa on the ground that the witness was not an expert was also overruled.





The presiding officer of the court overruled the objections after hearing the advise of judge advocate S V Rao who opined that the objections were not tenable.

Reacting to Rao's advise for rejection of defence objections, Randhawa said by raising objections he only wanted that the court should stick to established practices of law.

Covert ops proofs are always shared with public when they are done. As for the effects. You have continued to lost soldiers to Pak firing regularly and even faced at least 3 cross border raids by Pakistanis that lead to death and mutilation of at least 4 Indian soldiers.

So what exactly are you celebrating here when you have no details and even the effects are not every encouraging? What are you celebrating bharati when your army didn't share details with its top cheer leader?
