Indian army:security threat from mobile phone

Indian army personals specially posted near borders are getting such numerous phone calls from unknown numbers through which those callers are trying to reveal those soldier's position! Many of those soldiers are reported to have revealed their positions to unknown callers in the hope of Money.

Soldiers posted near Jammu Kashmir and Gujarat are getting those phone calls mostly. Indian army have traced those calls are coming from Pakistan, Saudi Arab, Bangladesh and Nepal. A spokesman of the army told that they receive at least 10 to 12 such calls every week.

To prevent this, They have erected sign boards like this ....

ISD code of Pakistan, Saudi Arab, Bangladesh and Nepal are written on the board!

It's pretty easy for them to get the electronics for all this.

Couple of days back I too received a call from a Nigerian saying that I had won 10 Lakh rupees in a lucky draw/lottery. He told me that for me to collect that amount I need to deposit some money in their account and their representative would come down to my house and give me the money.

I asked him to cut the required amount from my "lottery amount" and send me the balance money.

This trick is old but still very effective. I used to get these letters from Nigeria in the 90's.

Buddy, that is when you want to pin point the location of the caller/handset. Otherwise the ISD code with the caller's phone number which shows on the caller ID of the receiver's mob will give out the country from which the call originated.

Mobile numbers and details like name etc of subscribers are regularly sold by the service providers. That is how the tele marketing guys call you up or send text messages.
