Indian Army has ordered withdrawal of troops from the area close to Doklam where the standoff with Chinese Army took place, CNN-News18 reported.

According to the report, the troop withdrawal began from today (Oct. 12) morning.

Earlier this month, it was reported that the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) has been expanding an existing track, reinforcing its claim to the disputed and remote Doklam Plateau, just 10 km from the location of the last standoff with the Indian Army. The Doklam Plateau is claimed by both Beijing and Bhutan as their territory.

It was reported at the time that both the armies were on high operational alert.

Modi thought his humiliation would end after a unilateral retreat from Doklam. But Xi Jinping escalated the conflict with more road building. Rattled by PLA firepower, IA abandoned their Doka La outpost so Modi can beg Xi Jinping again to stop road building.

After the agreement, China had pulled back its bulldozers and other road-making equipment from the area.

The OP as usual has a trouble in comprehension . the Chinese are building 10 kms from the area of the standoff which is under their side of the border and of no concern of either India or Bhutan !!!

If Indians full back further, they can claim ignorance when China start to build roads at exactly the same spots. As no Indians troops will be in the area. It's also likely that Xi ordered Modi to pull back troops and Modi complied.

Watch for Bhutan to have diplomatic relationship with the rest of world powers. Congrats to Bhutan to finally be independent in its foreign policy.

Now IA abandoned its outpost at Doka La on the Indian side of the Sikkim border to persuade PLA to stop our road construction. Maybe China will accept the offer or maybe we will just watch Indians jump up and down in frustration!

China need to find a way to give India another face saving victory. To make Indians here feel that their troops won. Such as Indian troops are not pulling back, but that they have drive fear into Chinese troops that Indian soldiers are no longer needed at the border.

If its no concern then why withdraw?

Doing that only reinforces the Chinese claim to the area, since it makes them the dominant force there.

Last time during doklam too Indian troops reduction happened but unfortunately only in global times . i guess that was done to make Chinese here feel that their troops won

The latest move to pull back has taken place in the backdrop of the ongoing Army commanders’ conference which began on Monday and will end on Sunday.

The move is likely to be matched by a similar pullback by China’s People’s Liberation Army, which had also garnered and consolidated its positions in the remote and inhospitable terrain in the Doklam plateau.

New Delhi: Indian Army formations including heavy guns and artillery that had moved north in the eastern sector to areas near the site of the Doklam standoff between the Indian and Chinese armies have been ordered to move back.

While an operational alert was issued because of the border standoff with China in Doklam near the trijunction between India’s Sikkim, China and Bhutan, an Indian Army exercise had also begun at that time, an annual feature before winter sets in, setting bells ringing across the border, which was followed by counter moves.

“The Indian Army undertakes military exercises before the onset of winter and this time the exercise coincided with the Doklam standoff with China. The exercise has ended and the troops are moving back to the barracks”, a source confirmed to this newspaper.

The move is likely to be matched by a similar pullback by China’s People’s Liberation Army, which had also garnered and consolidated its positions in the remote and inhospitable terrain in the Doklam plateau.

At the actual site of the standoff that lasted 73 days, a contingent of about 350 Indian soldiers faced an equal number of Chinese soldiers in a vigil at the 10,500-foot high spot, about 2 km south of the trijunction near Sikkim, with only about 100-odd metres separating the two armies. The highly tense situation also saw a border skirmish between troops of the two countries engaging in fisticuffs near the Pangong lake in eastern Ladakh.

The latest move to pull back has taken place in the backdrop of the ongoing Army commanders’ conference which began on Monday and will end on Sunday. The past four days comprised open sessions where defence ministry officials and the Army brass participated.
