I have been to Sri Nagar on a business trip and would it be shocking to for you if I told the most of the people there are weary of the insurgency and just want to move on with their life and dont give a hoot as to whether they are with India or with Pakistan or independent. They are the absolute majority - the common traders, florists, boatsmen etc. The separatists are a minority with most of them coming from a ultra-religious background and only a few are even graduates among them. For them it is a Hindu India vs Muslim Valley affair nothing else and the economic deprivation just adds to their woes and they see a convenient SATAN in India for all their woes.
But with India's growing economy and opportunities growing everywhere more and more are coming to the mainland and those are the types who would like to stay in India. The detoriating situation in Pakistan doesn't help them either.
And I hope you did not forget the Kasmiri pandits, Dogras etc are also Kashmiris only.
Also the support for the Separatists is prevalent mostly in urban centres like Sri Nagar, Baramulla etc. Go to the rural areas and you cant have them sing enough praise for the Indian Army which is doing a tremendous job in providing education and basic health care along with providing them their security - a thing that is not highlighted enough in our crappy media.
And I hope I dont have to say anything about Ladakh region or Jammu region that is always pro-India.
