Indian Army eyeing own 'mini' air force

gud move on part of the army. U cant always phone up ur pals in the IAF to provide the wings when you need them the most.More than Egos , i thinks its more a matter of economies at play. We still have a limited budget and these large purchases are something that the IAF doesnt want to be deducted from its annual kitty.
SO all the best hoping for an agile ,efficient army air wing

.
this is a good move. army should not solely rely on air force esp for minor purposes.

. . .
so do the airforce should have its army.
Navy must ask for ground division as well.

And then the Navy's ground division should require air support, forming it's own "mini-force" and so on and on ad infinitum.

Finally they might end up asking seperate nations for them to defend.

Already happening. And the stupid egos of generals and marshals is harming the forces negatively.

There should be coordination between our forces for better results.
one of the reasons that India have not experienced a military take over is this "hard love " between the forces. ISI was found in 1947 for a better communication and co operation between the 3 pakistani forces. but later what happened was the military became well coordinated and they reached a state that they can dethrone the elected government any time they wanted. this is the basic reason for the political instability of pakistan.
but in india there is no chance for a military takeover ever because each armed forces are maintaining their own personality.

Army should have its own aircraft, it helps for coordinated training programs, which can give better result.we should have done it long ago.

.
true..

I really dont understand ego motivated corruption.
Care to explain the above statement?
How is Indian army trying to get air-assets for quick deployments during emergency without going through bureaucratic redtapes of air-force, makes them egoistical & corrupt?

.
army should have its own navy also:devil:

Well I am sure every army in the world has boats to cross rivers, canals and other water obstacles

so do the airforce should have its army.
Who protects the Indian Air fields ? The Army or the Air Force
In WW2 the Luftwaffe had its own paratrooper division called the Fallschirmjager

Navy must ask for ground division as well.

Well the US marines come under the department of Navy

.
Until 1947 there no USAF

All military aircraft operated by the Americans were flown by the Navy, Marines and the Army.

After 1947 all the American Army's fixed wing aircraft (not that there were helicopters at that time) were taken out and the USAF was created. The US Army is not allowed to operate fixed wing aircraft. Only helicopters.

During WWII the German navy wanted its own aircraft carrier and planes. Goering would not allow that. He wanted the pilots and aircraft to be under Luftwaffe control

As for the Pakistan Army it flies the Mushak trainer.

Ego: IAf holding on to battlefield air mobility assets which should normally be with the IA..the IA not liking it one bit.. turf war.

Corruption: More projects, more tenders.. more opportunities for slip ups to occur.

Inter-service rivalry is not unheard off in defense establishments, Giving up an asset which till now they godfathered makes IAF uneasy, that Ego is expected of from them.

If you go back in history (US history) during 1960's missile era there was strong in house bitter rivalry among army-navy-airforce alike to decide who should have the greater allocation of nuke missiles.

well, does purchasing leads to corruption in Indian army? if thats the argument, then the ideal case scenario would be to make army utopic by not letting them purchase anything ,not even bullet for their guns.

Such dramas are trivial coz when men-in-arms suit up for war such egos fades into thin air.
