What's new

Indian Army admits carrying out covert ops in Pakistan.

India and Pak have been playing these dirty games with each other for 66 years now. How many more innocents have to die on each side before the politicians' hunger is satiated?

Congress and their tattus :pissed:

More power to the ex chief.Witch hunt these anti nationals :sniper:

How exactly is the Indian Army requesting the Indian government to launch an government headed enquiry on V.K. Singh a secret internal report? It's funny to note how you say what was the government doing for six months when you clearly term it as a secret report. Secret funds that even the Indian Army can't track as to where they went? Let's not be naive and throw away all objectivity yaar. And what are the damaging implications to national security to implicate a former General? Where were these implications when V.K. Singh letters on the state of readiness of the Indian Armed forces were conveniently leaked?

The rest about CBI, Ishrat Jahan etc. is just unmitigated rubbish. If I were a BJP leader, I would drop V.K. Singh like a hot potato. If Advani can be forsaken,

I can clearly see that you are making extreme efforts to appear ignorant so that you can confuse others with your obfuscatory tactics. Whats so difficult to understand:

1, The Board of Officers submitted a report about the workings of TSD of MI. This report, which is of a purely preliminary nature, is top secret.

2. The report was submitted to MOD for consideration and further action as the government thinks proper.

3. Between the MOD and PMO, the report remained lying in limbo for 6 months. The PMO is of the opinion that the report is not actionable.

4. Instead of setting up an enquiry committee, which was found to be not feasible, the report is leaked to the press which divulges its contents.

5. Among other divulgences, it also mentions covert action against Pak, as well as certain payments made out of Secret Service funds. Even a child knows that SS payments are neither made to the indicated person, nor for the indicated purpose.

In case the Government needed to take further action, it should have done so instead of sitting on it. What benefit accrues by leaking it to the public and indulging in loose talk like CBI investigation . Can the CBI even investigate into matters military when even the Army has not held an enquiry?

Is it even within the jurisdiction of civil agencies at the moment?

Great harm was done by the report leak

1. Leaking a top secret report

2. Divulging the fact of covert ops against Pak which Pak will gleefully use for many years to project India as a terrorist state and itself as victim

2. Demoralizing the MI, just as IB has been a couple of month earlier

4. Risking the operatives. Now that the J&K Minister's name is revealed, his life may be in danger even if he was not the recipient of the funds

5. Muddying the name of Gen V K Singh when there is nothing against him at the moment.

And all this just for dubious political gains?

I have to say, this is utter unprofessional behaviour by whichever authority that released this sensitive information. If covert ops are being carried in another country, rule of thumb is 'You Keep Your Mouth Shut'. Do you ever see the Israelis applauding themselves in the media for their enormous success?

No one's applauding, our Ex army chief has decided to side with the BJP, the opposition part, and shared the stage with Narendra Modi at a recent rally. This seemed to have rattled the ruling party and they are the ones who leaked this information to somehow undermine the ex chief.

Congressis don't really give a hoot about national security and strategic gains,, they just want to be in power, whatever it takes.

Title should have been,,,,,"Congress carrying covert ops in Indian Army"

Why can't Army send a stern msg,,,,Guys We need to topple this govt,,,or our country ll be toppled.

Whats new here :undecided:
Some Pak members are going haywire with the news
So establishing a network or a spy network is act of war ??? Nice to know

Let them gain power - the show is going to be worth watching. We just need a flashing 'red button' handy.

Wow !!! Just wow. Good luck with your flashing "red button"/s.

Pakistan Needs to organize it Military like:

Army should form a single force of like 1100,000 Mens and on duty bases they will serves some 1-2 weeks on borders along side India, Afghanistan, Iran and China as well; which means in East, West and North side. These men will serve in 8 hour duty shift and about 210,000-250,000 Men will be on these fronts(East, West and North side), being armed with Rifles, AA Guns, Manpads and other needed equipment this is other than the Proper Air defence units being present already.

Also Navy should be playing its role by taking the duties of Pakistan Coast guards as well as Marines Corps. and keeping a plan in which Naval trained personal will be serving some time in Pakistan Coast guards and then in Marine Corps and then to Navy as well. Also PN would then need to tripple its working force as well as double its budget too. Coast gaurds will ensure Sea/Marine security along with Marines.

All hard work gone down the drain, thanks to petty politics of Congress party.

Hardwork??? That Indian official state terrorism against Pakistan involving Indian official Army State actors.

Thank you for releasing sensitive information. Thank you for having revealed a covert ops, the assets cultivated by which will still be perhaps operating in some capacity or other- or will at least till they eat a bullet. I know who holds this nation's interest before their own swine-like greed.

once again our covert ops in Pakistan is blown by our own politicians. i think Pakistan should stop funding ISI for intelligence, politicians and media in india will do that for them!!

You should thank your institutions who exposed rogue elements within at higher level of Indian Army involving its chief. since Indian govts and Indians in general have been claiming that Indian Army is under Civilian control. in the recent past rouge activities of Indian Army have left the liberal worried

Terminate him and go radio silent - imagine what you can do with the leverage created out of a billion angry Hindus and grateful 200 million Muslims,Secularists & Christians. BJP wins the sympathy votes, gets into power - blames the congress for not providing enough security , keeps milking it for another 10 years for political mileage.

Few hundred million Hindu youth hoping to rule India as a matter of 'the right of birth' - get radicalized as a result - unleashing revenge upon their fellow citizens......Shudhifying drive picks up again, Modi becomes an avatar and is worshiped for 'dealing with the malichas with divine power' in the temples. We don't need to fight India - we need to do EXACTLY what our forefathers did -- play on its internal divisions.

:blah::blah:
:D :D

This self admission of waging covert operations in Pakistan, amounts to an act of war under international law, which justifies any Pakistani strike in India as a matter of legitimate self defense. So, don't beat your chest when the peanut is handed back to you. (Not that we give a sh it)
Baloney! WTF have you guys been doing for the last three decades pushing terrorists across into India that were state sponsored like the LeT and the JeM? How about the Parliament and the Mumbai attacks? Weren't those an act of war too?

Don't pretend to be lily white. The whole world knows what you guys are up to. Running with the hare and hunting with the hounds! Even kayani admitted to his American counterpart that these militant groups are his 'strategic assets'!!

rogue elements?
madam ji,covert ops are done by every major country of the world, that is involved in a rivalry.
and there is a thin line seperating terrorism and covert ops..
but there is a line after all :D

Since Pakistani covert ops are carried out by non state actors which most of the world has labeled as terrorists, Pakistanis have got conditioned to equate covert ops with terrorism (true in case of Pakistani army)

I can clearly see that you are making extreme efforts to appear ignorant so that you can confuse others with your obfuscatory tactics. Whats so difficult to understand:

Why would I want to confuse others? I have no political leanings whatsoever. The crux of the matter is simple: These allegations are being made by the Indian Army.. Not the Congress party, not the CBI but the Indian Army. You BJPwallas are deliberately trying to assign blame on Congress by raising canards on the timing, national security etc.

1, The Board of Officers submitted a report about the workings of TSD of MI. This report, which is of a purely preliminary nature, is top secret.

I would like a link that specifies it as preliminary, top secret report. Last I heard, the TSD was put under the scanner after the very public scandal of phone tapping.

2. The report was submitted to MOD for consideration and further action as the government thinks proper.

Wrong again. The Indian Army wants the government to pursue the case as it doesn't want to seen heading an inquiry against its former general

3. Between the MOD and PMO, the report remained lying in limbo for 6 months. The PMO is of the opinion that the report is not actionable.

I would appreciate a source that clarifies the PMO of the opinion the report as not actionable.

4. Instead of setting up an enquiry committee, which was found to be not feasible, the report is leaked to the press which divulges its contents.

Assuming that is indeed the case, I see nothing wrong in it. It doesn't, even in the tiniest bit, pertain to national security.

5. Among other divulgences, it also mentions covert action against Pak, as well as certain payments made out of Secret Service funds. Even a child knows that SS payments are neither made to the indicated person, nor for the indicated purpose.

You think that because you haven't read the full spectrum of unallocated funds. It ranged from MI funds, operations in Kashmir to paying an NGO "Yes Kashmir" that filed a petition against the current Army chief in a fake encounter case. I remember even the CAG refused allocation of funds to the unit at one point of time.

As discussed before, it is the Indian Army pushing for a government probe. It remains to be seen how the government will respond or even whether V.K. Singh will pursue legal action in retaliation. As of now, his lawyer has squarely placed the blame on the army and the government.

Great harm was done by the report leak

5. Muddying the name of Gen V K Singh when there is nothing against him at the moment.

Same things being repeated although I don't think Mr. Singh's name needed any more muddying considering he also faces separate charges of corruption.

And all this just for dubious political gains?

Probably. That doesn't change anything.
