Indian annexation of Goa

So please tell that to the Indonesians after the tsunami or the Pakistanis after the earthquake. Or may be you are just plain WRONG when you say that?

I think, he means conflict. Having said that, why should they involve themselves, if its not in their interests? Its a very valid arugment to say, we did not intervene, because, it does not have any negative consequence for us. So, they US and UK are well with-in their rights and interests to stay off conflicts.

Took these pictures from a thread in Indian Defence Forum

These captions are incorrect.

The first picture is INS Rajput being commissioned in Portsmouth in ca. 1948, that shows her commissioning crew. Her C.O. there is somebody I knew.

The second picture is INS Vikrant entering Valetta Harbor, Malta. This picture was taken on her first voyage home after commissioning in the U.K.

The third picture is INS Vikrant launching one of he Sea Hawks at sea. Though she saw Ops in the Goa Liberation, this photograph is not necessarily from that time.

Quite brave to accept your nations ill acts / ambitions against poorly armed countries / peoples.
Because of Indian Govt ill intentions we have to build our defense against you ignoring education, health and every other thing. Millions of people in both countries living below poverty just because of your / India leaders.

Portugal was no poorly armed country...

They did'nt really stay out did they ? They proposed a resolution in the UN against India.. When push comes to shove, The West will always side with their counterparts, does not matter who is in the wrong

Humanitarian crisis and bilateral or multilateral conflicts are two different things

I am 101% sure. That picture on INS Rajput was taken after her commissioning. The actual commissioning was done by Princess Elisabeth (now Queen Elisabeth 2). The pictures where she appears in the ceremony are in a family album, which I've seen.

The picture of INS Vikrant was taken in Malta where she had a working-up schedule as well as R & R.

The third picture had appeared in the Illustrated Weekly of India as part of a photo-feature on Vikrant during Exercises.

I often drive to Goa on extended weekends. Fallen in love with the place.
mumbai, pune .. I'm guessing ?

lucky, I've done Goa by road from Mumbai a few times, pretty magical how you go down the mountains and the soil turns red and everything lush green, the ghats are awesome !

dilli here, extended weekends mean himachal for us landlubbers. :)

but goa is just so awesome on so many levels, I'm planning a move there in the next couple years.

Pune.. for last 8-10 months :)
I must say, I like the city, better than Mumbai (sorry Mumbaikars, Pune simply has a better weather, less traffic).
Konkan coast line is beautiful, breath taking.

Hahaha...I got used to waking up at the sounds of Flankers flying over my head. They keep flying all the time!

Perhaps you know, Pune city is at a certain height, around 500-600 mts from mean sea level. and it's a hilly area. One side is mountains with little place left for a decent airport. Only one place that was available, the airforce had already built a base for themselves. No place left for the civilian airport. So, they share the airstrip. Half the time you have Sukhois taking off or landing and in intermittent times you have passenger carriers landing. Almost every time, my flight gets delayed by 5-10 minutes or more due to that.

on some domestic flights, the captains even announce "this is a mixed airfield, we might get lucky and see some IAF Sukhoi fighters..." :partay:

same in Dabolim, you can see them take off and land between commercial flights pretty often. :)

Anyone from Goa...happy or agree that you really feel great that India liberated Goa from Portuguese?

Humanitarian crisis and bilateral or multilateral conflicts are two different things

Of course, as they should be. It is noble to help others, and fight only for defending one's national interests.

The US was put in between rock and hard place in this case.
US overtly wanted decolonization of colonies by colonial powers (especially Britain) and also wanted face saving of NATO which was newly formed with Portugal as its member.

Of course, USA as superpower will never compromise on its own interests.
