Indian-Americans win Spelling Bee yet again, but success isn't a natural product of our culture

.
Great reply. He is an hard core islamist hiding his facade under socialist tag...taquia someone?

i have been hearing of this ever since i joined pdf... people seem to automatically react to my birth religion.

if he was a true indian he should have been proud first of the achivement.

but there is no achievement !!!

and i am socialist... it is simply not within me to be proud of someone just because they are of the same nation as me... i will be proud of any human if they achieve.

you did not quite answer my point.

.
its just a spelling competition for school kids.. dont read too much into it.
BTW too much focus on educational achievement(while being underachiever in other aspects) is typical for asians.. chinese and south koreans are crazier than us.

Well , it seems like you give them the chance to do so. I have seen your post here where you have been unnecessarily critical of India and also mock Hindu religion. Though India /= Hindu. But you understand what I am saying.

Ok now for the past 20 years they have been dominating a true blue American thing and you are saying no achievement?
Let me put it this way , if say Americans were in India as American-Indian and they dominated some Hindi/non-english spelling bee for 2 decades, I think many will say thats an achivement.

one of the things - as i have said many a time here, i have been designing a clock-less microprocessor since 2008 and have found it most difficult to raise money... while idiotic companies like toppr and vedantu ( exams preparation ) and myntra get crores of funding... for what?? :what:
And you still say that ecosystem is a buzzword?
Right there you have an ecosystem that is encouraging strange sites. Its because people have worked with those ideas and have seen it produce results.

but that is no talent pool at all... any typical mediocre engineer, fresh out of college, can work in a fab.
Try doing the same abroad. You get what you pay. If you just pay 20k per month, don't expect a perfect engineer. I have found most engineers I hire to be decent. But I do pay well.

why has the "india microprocesor program", started 2009, failed to come up with a local design?? where is the sooper-dooper operating system from drdo.

Who will buy them? what was the market need? How will it sustain itself?
Seems more like a vanity project than something that was actually needed.

having foreign-built factories is what india has been doing since 1947... i wanted to ask where is the indian qnx, the indian arm, the indian apple.
qnx is dying. They are themselves selling their linux services.
These examples... will take time.

no, to innovate one needs to ask questions and simplify... one shouldn't do what "the market" demands but rather create a field.
I still stick with my idea. I don't disagree with your statement either.

and sorry, but i am irritated by the word "ecosystem"... it is a buzz-word create by some mba.
:-)

i know it's not easy... indian culture is geared towards jobs and short-term goal tradering.
I disagree.

actually, data-mining is just a buzz-word... it is a fad that will fade away... sorry.
I disagree again.

i prefer writing in lower case, including "prophet muhammad"... problem?? :)
enjoy

yes, south asians and south east asians are more followers than leaders in technologies.

only russia ( eurasia ) is really a innovator in the asia region.

Being south asian, they take anything wayy to seriously. They might create a fountain some mile high which other than throwing water into the air does nothing. But it will be a glorious achievement.

. .
when do you think there will be a indian spacex or a indian microprocessor??

memorization is automatic to indian culture because of prayer recitation and inclination towards mathematics but innovation is something else entirely.

indians should change their culture 180 degrees, going away from exams and jobs, and move towards taking risks, dropping out of jobs and colleges, initiating revolution and technological innovation... only that is respectable.

We are banking on you for that microprocessor!
