Indians communities are spread out unlike jews, Koreans, so when you say "Medium household income", indians are at # 1, no doubt about that.
But the fact is most of big businesses, money, politics is controlled by for ex: Jews, so you won't much research being done on that. Come to NY, ask Latino, black, white that who controls most of real estate business here.

Pakistan is not part of the topic here, but I agree with you that Pakistan has done nothing to address the brain drain.

India, like I wrote, has started to slow, and sometimes reverse, the brain drain. There is a feeling amongst increasing number of Indians that India itself can provide them opportunities to achieve their full potential and there's no need to go to the West.

The reasons for reverse brain drain are many/ Most of them are following:

1. Rise of local and establishment of offices of foreign Multinationals in India: Most of the Indians, due to social structure and tradition, wants to live near their family if not with them. They happily opt for job in Bangalore, Noida or Gurgaon where they can reach their family in hours.

The pay is comparatively equal or if less, compensated by closeness to family and living in their own country, which Indians don't mind. Its easier for a person who is working in Google in California to move to Google office in India. Its win win for both the employee and the company.

2. Recession in West: The growing economic instability in West and so many cut backs, many Indians are returning to India where they can easily have jobs as they will be preferred in India.

3. Growing Indian Economy: Many Indians are coming back to India with their experience gained in other countries to start their own ventures. The money they made is sufficient enough for new start up and its easier to get venture capitalists.

4. Social traditions and Problems in Other countries: Indians are too much connected to their family and they are more inclined to take care of their elders comparatively.

The growing resentment and hostility in locals of foreign countries against immigrants from India especially in Europe and Australia, racism and constant fear can become a reason for them to move back.

India still has lot to do to attract NRIs like China is doing, getting graduates and post graduates from Ivy league and other universities of US and Europe to come back. Promise for comparative salary, advanced research facilities etc.

There's one more aspect.

Every society has nepotism but developed countries fare better on meritocracy v/s nepotism. Developing countries are notorious for rampant nepotism.

Talent will gravitate towards a society which is perceived to reward merit.

Incidentally, Australia recently came #1 in the world on certain aspects of social mobility. The specific category was completion of higher education by children of disadvantages parents.

Like Vietnamese living in Germany, most Vietnamese come to America primarily as refugees, with little or no money, yeh dirty poor. Nowadays compared to ordinary Germans and Americans, our performance is not too bad. Surely we are behind some other Asians in the US, but who cares?

Besides the VN economy and the standard of living have improved a lot, considering where we came from.

Let me give two more interpretation of the table

1) Chinese are not able to compete with Indians in US and hence returning back to their China (A different way of looking at your own interpretation)

2) Chinese lack essential skills to be successful hence are not able to grow to high paying positions and remain at the bottom of the ladder.

So which is true ?

Neither is true.

1) The vast majority of Chinese-Americans or ABC's work in the U.S. and will continue to do so. Even so, going to mainland China to work or do business is actually a reasonable option for us now because of the opportunities and incentives it offers. When India offers similar opportunities and incentives for its diaspora then we'll talk

2) Actually Chinese-Americans on average surpass the average American in terms of household income.

Perhaps your ego has made you too detached from the average Joe and so you consider everyone else as a loser just because they don't earn as much?

Actually Chinese and Indians both do well. It is because of focus on higher studies especially in Masters and PhDs.

Als, they are comparatively more hard working and adapt according to organization easily. Reason is the innate nature of Indians and Chinese. Wherever they go, they mingle comfortably.

No, there are more Chinese in US then are Indians, and the number is growing.

The fact is west offers a lifestyle that is unbeatable by the east.
