Indian-American student to face trial for roommate's suicide

^^^ :offtopic: you know you are showing your desperation now by going off the deep end today - bringing in off topic posts... should we start the posting of chinese crimes in the US, it's illusterous labor force stats that show the immigration population is mostly wait staff in the US and also go off topic? nah_ I think I'll refrain.

The act done by the kid was wrong, mean spirted and unexcuseable ( note: how we stand up calling a spade spade and not being fan boys) - but you have protected the chinese girl- just a typical trait( she knew exactly what was being done and even watched the video herself) - whom btw was dating him( the indian) ... she don't find her own kind much to her taste :P

The day I met my first roommate he "disclosed" to me that he was gay. I don't have any problem with gays in general. However, I wasn't too comfortable with having a roommate who could potentially be sexually attracted to me. I would feel the same way if I had a girl as a roommate.

Within perhaps a week, I was no longer uncomfortable about this. My roommate was very respectful. Sometimes he would spend the night with his boyfriend, but never in our dorm room.

However, I can say that if my roommate had acted like Tyler Clementi, I would have remained uncomfortable. If he was the kind of guy who said "I got an azn, soo Indian/first gen Americanish," I wouldn't have liked it. Living away form my home for the first time, I might not have been able to handle this. Especially with the maturity I had then.

Certainly, Dharun Ravi wasn't. He was not sure wether he could feel safe with his roommate's sexual orientation. He clearly went overboard by spying on his roommate and then tweeting about it, but I don't think there was any malice involved. However, he later apologized to Tyler Clementi.

As for Tyler Clementi's suicide, only god knows what caused him to do it. Certainly, the spying and tweeting would have been a contributing factor, but Clementi's mother's view towards his sexuality was likely a major factor too.

The bottom line from this incident is that the university needs ensure it provides a comfortable environment for all its students. I don't know what it's like in other countries, but in most universities in America, there's a "you're an adult and we won't treat you like a child" viewpoint that results in people who aren't yet fully mature finding themselves in the middle of a chaotic world.

Mentally Disturbed boy (G word)

Why the Indian man being charged for murder ? They G man clearly decided to jump off some where because he had some
remorse for his actions , and he jumped off the thing

I mean its none sense

The dead man was disturbed he told his parents before he left and his mother shunned him "rightfully" so he committed suicide because he was disturbed

Why is the Indian man is being dragged into it

Did - the Indian man asked him to be mentally ill ? No

 This is funny firstly the man is messed up in head , and then the blame goes to a perfectly sane hetro India ? for what making a Tweet ?

Strangely they found lots of photos of the suicide location on the sick man's computer indicating he already was planning this long time ago

Protect the brown boy here ppl - complete nonsense trial

19-year-old Molly Wei has been admitted into a pre-trial intervention program. The move may allow Wei to potentially avoid jail time and a criminal record.

Wow- bad price for Ravi to pay- for being an indian-

Let's make it clear. The guy did not make or encourage the gay student to commit suicide. What he did do was violate his privacy. That is the main issue.

he was the one who commited the crime or executed the crime. she just knew what he was going to do, handed him the laptop and watched it later. she did not set it up herself. Which to me is an unfair distintion- but I dont believe there was any anti gay malice among the two( just sheer mean spirted immaturity). But if you do the crime, you do the time.
