Indian ambassador to China speaks positively of China-India military ties

The friendly exchanges between China and India go back to time immemorial. In 2011, the “China-India Exchange Year”, China and India respectively invited 500 youths from the other country for visits with a view to deepening understanding and enhancing mutual trust through such exchanges between the youths.

As the China-India Exchange Year of 2011 is drawing to a close, the reporter from the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) had an exclusive interview with S. Jaishankar, Indian ambassador to China and PhD on international relations. He has traveled all over China and conducted frequent interactions with Chinese high-ranking officials and civic communities since he took office in August, 2009.

When asked to comment on the China-India exchanges throughout the year, Ambassador S. Jaishankar first affirmed that “this has been a very positive and fruitful year”, and then went on to analyze specifically the developments in areas of political, economic and people-to-people exchanges.

When talking about the military exchanges between the two countries, the ambassador was equally positive, “The Indian military delegation conducted a successful visit to China, the political commissar of the Tibet Military Command of the PLA and his party visited India, and what’s more, in December, Ma Xiaotian, deputy chief of general staff of the PLA, and Shashikant Sharma, defense secretary of India, engaged in a successful annual defense dialogue.”

After expressing his satisfaction with the achievements made this year so far, Ambassador S. Jaishankar noted that China and India should continue to expand the scope and level of mutual exchanges, and currently they are working towards the goal.

while a lot of people here say we may have a border conflict with china(for which we are preparing , and i think its good to do so)
knowing our and Chinese leaders , they seem very pragmatic people . i doubt they will ever let any thing hurt their economies .

@TOPIC - good news , i don't think we could ever get to see a conflict between india and china

What's going on in India? There're a lot of kiss up to China from India lately.

We want a good relationship with China so that we can exploit the oil reserves in South China Sea. And there is no harm in solving border issues peacefully and focus more on development instead of unnecessary military build up.

But how can India have a good relationship when India has two territorial disputes with China.

they are since inception but even after that India-china trade relations are much better than Pak-China. there are provocations from both the side but rigidity in relationship is fading away with both and not only one side is making attempt to cool down the burning issues like border and all. sikkim solution is one of the settlement where china gave up its demand over sikkim state.
sooner or later all the issues will settle.
then only i guess you will come out of lala land.

few dozen chinese members of def.pk dont represent china, its CPC.

two words : MATURE LEADERSHIP.

we don't let it come between trade and other relations, be both want the same thing . we work towards a common goal , leaving irrational behavior and emotions aside .
you should try it some times . it will work wonders.:)

No harm in trying peaceful methods. We are going to get that oil from South China sea either way, they can hue and cry about it , get emo , no one cares.
