Indian Air Force Unveils Own Stand-Off Weapons Concepts

Oh I think this is a crude concept missile than a cruise missile. Let IAF concentrate, what they been asked for.

Yeah ..... it's just a proof of concept as of now ..... it will reuire few more refining and tweaks before it becomes a finished product .

I mean isn't IAF need to concentrate on their primary job.

Thanks a ton bro. on topic- Do you really love this crude concepts ?

Concept is good , I like the overall design ..... few more changes are needed

1. foldable wings
2. small X-type fins like nirbhay
3. redesigning of front end ..... more faceted than rounded
4. replacing the exposed nut and bolt assembly with that of concealed rivets like in Nirbhay .

5. air intake carved into the body will be good :Dalthough not a necessity

I mean isn't IAF need to concentrate on their primary job.

Having their own design bureau and actively participating in own projects is immensely helping Navy .

IMO this move will also help IAF ....... healthy competition is always good .

is this the NG-LGB
A next-generation bomb (NG-LGB) studded with new technologies is in the pipeline, but the scientists need to address the problem of rolling of the bomb, after its release. “The range of Sudrashan now is around 9 km, if dropped from a normal altitude, and for the NG-LGB we hope to increase the range to 50 km,” he said.
IAF wants 50 swift & sure Sudarshan LGBs from ADE | Scientists at it to get

No, since it doesn't have laser guidance.

I mean isn't IAF need to concentrate on their primary job.

Maybe that means that they don't get the weapons they actually need from DRDO and that's why they start their own concepts. I think it's good that the IAF takes more responsibility for such projects and not just wait and see what nonesense DRDO does again and then complain about it when it's too late anyway. Taking the lead of such projects will be crucial to improve their capabilities, but also to develop indigenous arms and techs in a better manner.

. . . .
Funny they both look alike!

That's the idea, 2 weapons with minimal changes. The missile basically adds a propulsion kit at the end and replaces much of the warhead with fuel, while the basic frame of the glide bomb will remain the same. But that is not unusual, JDAM-ER or JSOW-ER also retain the main part of the base weapon and add a propulsion to increase the range.

WRT to the foldable wings, as I said it most likely will be similar to HOPE / Pilum or HOSBO kind of wingkits:
