Defence News - Indian Air Force to receive air-launched version of BrahMos missile in 2016

NEW DELHI, August 06./ITAR-TASS/. BrahMos
Aerospace will be ready to deliver to the Indian Air
Force the air-launched version of the BrahMos
supersonic cruise missile in 2016, the company new
President Sudhir Kumar Mishra said on Wednesday.
The air-launched missile will be installed on the Sukhoi
Su-30MKI fighters, the head of the Russian-Indian JV
told ITAR-TASS in an interview.
“The missile development is going on schedule. Its
launch from the Su-30MKI fighter will be carried out by
the year end, and the deliveries will start in 2016,” he
said.

Instead I suggest speed up and finance for the Brahmos mini immediately to get better power.

Instead I suggest speed up and finance for the Brahmos mini immediately to get better power.

Brahmos mini will not be able to carry 300 KG payaload like its 2.55 tons version of Brahmos, its obvious that small size and restriction on weight (it will weigh 1.5 tons) mean that it will carry less paylaod compared to normal size Brahmos.

The sources says Brahmos mini will have range of 290 KM which is believable but is obvious that it wil carry less paylaod.

Not necessarily.......
Both the Motor/Propulsion and Fuel can be improved.
Apart from the advantages of lighter weights.

How many Brahmos minis will a flanker carry? If more than one, then this is worth investing in. Otherwise I see no point in it.

if I'm not wrong then brahmos mini is for other aircrafts to especially Rafale, mig 29k and mirage. I read it in some articles few months so posted on this forum.
here I found this article. mki will be able to carry 3 of them while mig 29k will carry 2 of them.

if I'm not wrong then brahmos mini is for other aircrafts to especially Rafale, mig 29k and mirage. I read it in some articles few months so posted on this forum.

Atleast the Mig 29s are not for a strike role. Mirages and Rafale still makes sense.

Anyway, with a weight of 1500Kg, the Flanker should be able to carry 3 of them, as it already carries 3 bombs of the same weight AFAIK.

I meant mig29ks. they are fully capable to act on strike role. read this article. and yes mkis will carry a total 3 brahmos mini while mig29ks will carry 2 of them.
