The longstanding demand of Indian Air Force to allow its Test pilots to flight-test one of Russia’s 5th generation T-50 fighter jet will be met soon after a formal Joint development agreement for the development of FGFA based on T-50/PAk-Fa is signed between India and Russia said UAC President Yuri Slyusar.

Earlier this year India and Russia have agreed to reduce the cost of joint Sukhoi/HAL Fifth-Generation Fighter Aircraft (FGFA) project by 40 percent and Both have since reached consensus on cutting the project costs to $8 billion, to be invested by India and Russia over the next seven years.

Slyusar confirmed that Two Limited series production (LSP) PAK-Fa fighters would be delivered to Russian Air force in 2017 and has also urged Indian officials to expedite formal commitment on the detailed design phase of the Fifth Generation Fighter Aircraft (FGFA) programme.

Slyusar while responding to reports that Indian air force officials are not convinced on the technical aspect of the fighter jet, said that ” There are no stumbling blocks that cannot be resolved “.

Slyusar also hopes to usher in an era of increased industrial collaboration under PM Modi’s ” Make In India ” initiatives and also welcomed increasing participation of Private sector in Indian defence manufacturing and R&D and said that ” Now Angle of view is wider and there are more opportunities now “.

So finally FGFA is moving forward which means good news on S-400s front too.

LOLZ irdw article.

On ground, it was IAF desired to fly T-50, not by HAL and since they will be the future user, and the planned FGFA would be based on the T-50, so they want to test something and remove some of their doubts thats OK, but Russia refuses why because the rules of Russia don't allow foriegn pilot to fly their aircraft in Russia -- Security, Sanity whatever.

Second FGFA would be different aircraft than the PAK-FA, may be different Engine, and there is no FGFA at the moment. Let the prototype come to India, and then IAF could fly properly, other wise good luck for the the taste of some Vodka.

" Maybe "
For engine its not an acceptable word. Our side has let the Russians know that without the promised thrust ( which the present Su35 power plant cannot achieve ),the PMF will be severely short legged and bring down its capabilities.

As for PMF/FGFA, they will take time. Not going to happen soon.

And please every one, by no means S400 and T50 are related. It makes no sense.

We are getting S400 with or without T50 , and it was decided the moment it came out that Pakistan is negotiating ( or simply begging ) to China for the Chinese version of S300V.

. .
Is the S400 Triumph really going to be purchased soon by India??
I am sorry the answer to you question would be the speculation and not from the mouth of the horse itself.

however what is interested is the DRDO plan to go for the 200 KM range SAM based on AAD, and land version Barak-NG, and the target of the GOI for the 100 percent indignation in the Missiles.
