Indian Air Force Jaguar Fighter Aircraft to Get New Honeywell Engines for $783 Million

I am comparing ground attack/CAS ( close air support) capability of JF-17 with your Jaguar
Dedicated ground attack/CAS aircraft will come into play once Air superiority is achieved in the present day -scenario. Jaguar will fly with an Air-superiority umbrella.
Coz Pakistan has no dedicated Ground Attack aircraft and JF17 is a multirole aircraft so please compare its capabilities with MIG 29, Tejas, Mirage 2000, SU30Mki, and Rafale to be fair with.

Jf17 is fit for pakistan and airforce is happy. Congrats to you but unlike India, china. India and China are looking for much better aircraft's.

The JF-17 Block-1 and Block-2 were basic aircraft which were inducted to replace the J-7 jets of the PAF. It is not the end of the evolution for the JF-17. In fact, this is only the start, and judging by the building up of the JF-17 MRO facility in China, there is no confirmed evidence that the Chinese have rejected the idea of inducting the JF-17 when the advanced versions arrive.

We don't want to start looking for replacement within 15 years.

I don't know if you are just pretending to be ignorant of the statements of the IAF chief, or you're actually that way. The strength of the IAF is already down do to 32 squadrons. Further squadrons are to be retired because they are already way past their useful life. If the Indian air force doesn't look for replacement for a further 15 years, it would be left with air balloons to patrol their air space.

By the way just for information, jaguar is ground attack aircraft before quoting please search

Where did I say that the Jaguar was not a ground attack aircraft? Please learn to read.

Upgraded Jaguar test flies with AESA radar

http://www.thehindu.com/news/cities...est-flies-with-aesa-radar/article19466548.ece

Jaguar is way ahead of any other fighter in PAF, only F-16 comes close. The AESA radar, new engine and next generation sensor suites which are way ahead of Chinese produced one on JF-17.

How many of the "upgraded" Jaguars are currently in service? India has only test flown the Jaguar with the AESA radar, but the whole fleet will take decades to become operational. In the mean time, the IAF flies the old Jaguars and MIG-21s, while the PAF flies the JF-17 Block-2 which is more powerful, better equipped and is newly manufactured.

The IAF is better than the PAF in Indian dreams only. Test flights and big plans count for nothing in real life.

Having aircraft with dedicated roles is an old philosophy which has been discarded by modern warfare. Now the new fleets have multi-role jets which allow flexibility in planning. Some roles, such as certain types of bombing, require specialized equipment which necessitate a special jet, but ground attack roles as performed by the Jaguar are not one of them.

For this type of role, the JF-17 is as suitable as the Jaguar if it is equipped with the necessary sensors. So a comparison of the JF-17 with the Jaguar is quite appropriate.

Jaguar will not be a frontline fighter in IAF like JF17 for Pakistan, Please compare JF17 with IAF frontline fighters. Which will actually be sending a hello via BVRs

The JF-17 will also send a reply via BVR missiles of its own. With regards to the Jaguar not being a front line fighter, what do you expect it will be doing in wartime? Giving joyrides to Modi? India made the same mistake in 1965 and sent Vampire jets for ground attack. They got blown out of the sky and so the PAF managed to ground 1/3 of the IAF fleet on the first day of the war.

Indians should really stop day dreaming now.

With regards to the keyboard warrior of the day, Day 1, there would be series of missile attacks followed by SU30MKI with at least half a dozen of BWR's and WR's each to engage the aircrafts(JF17 and F16) in the air. Accompanied by SU30MKi and Mirages and Mig 29 with Glide bombs and Anti-radiation missiles to take off the AD and airstrips. Under this cover of BWR's WR's and AD and Airstrips nearly neutralized, Jaguars will neutralize it further with precision mutation of the installments.
Within a couple of days, the capability to airborne would be neutralized as the strategic depth of AFG and IRAN to hide aircrafts is already been neutralized diplomatically.

Now the catch would be, F16 and JF17 would safeguard there own skies or go for CAS and Ground Attack across the border, Where the skies would be patrolled by MiG 21 and Tejas with BWR and WRs.
The capability of the aircraft is in the planning how it would be used against the adversary. So Jaguar would be very handy in delivering a particular type of ammunition.

So, In the end, the IAF managed to Blow off 100% of adversary capability on the 1st day itself to cross the border and do Ground Attack and CAS operations forcing them to guard there own skies.:-)

Happy New Year.

It is a ground attack jet that takes forever to turn (seen it and former RAF pilot mentioned the same). Sturdy airframe nontheless, strong landing gear, decent jet overall. The aircraft currently in the IAF service is of an older generation (British and French AF retired their Jaguars a long time ago), PAF was once offered the Jaguar but they opted for the F-16 instead (better investment, maintenance friendly and flies really well). This Jaguar upgrade seems very familiar to the Mirage ROSE upgrade from back in the day.

:sick: and we have no awacs, no ground based long range radars for detecting those jets and we have no SAMS we defenseless now happy:enjoy::p:

AD brings in all the AWACS, ground-based long-range radars and SAM's :pop: What for Anti-radiation missiles and glide bombs are ;). Point is, on which side of the border the war would be fought on. And it would certainly not on our side this time.:smokin:
You are certainly not defenseless.. but point is .. does adversary have the capability to make holes in the defense shield and penetrate in. Certainly, it does have.:D

yaar get out of fantasy world, and wishful thinking:lol::rofl:, we don't have BVR equipped jets to bring down your AWACS/jets at long ranges and we don't have a long range anti radiation missiles to disable your radars, go kid play your toys this place is not for yours:lol::rofl::sarcastic::omghaha::man_in_love::hang2::hang3:

Haha. India is the worst case of "analysis paralysis" I have ever come across. They can't take a decision on anything! Just goes to show how inefficient a democracy can be in a 3rd world country.

And how did you come across that assessment? Pakistan already has the JF-17 program underway and we have produced 100 jets. As the older fighters age, Pakistan is replacing them with the JF-17 rather than wasting money on overhaul.

The JF-17 is more powerful and more advanced than the 30 year old Jaguar, which doesn't even have an autopilot. Just by dint of evolution, the basic configuration of the JF-17 is superior to the 30 year old Jaguar.

Please do wake up in this lifetime.

From what I've read on the internet, the Jaguar is under-powered, has older avionics which are only partially being upgraded, has higher maintenance requirements due to 2 engines and old age, and is only suitable for ground attack roles under escort.

Seems like quite a burden on a 3rd world air force.

That's why we're upgrading them... And it's not going to go for air superiority roles.. after the air is cleared they'll be sent out... You people have no idea...

Lol.... Look who's having F7 and JF-17 as a backbone of AF talking

The Vampire jets were also planned to be used after the air had been cleared, but India had to meekly withdraw them on the first day of 1965. Looks like India hasn't learnt anything.

The F-7 is being replaced as we speak, with the 100th JF-17 having been rolled out a couple of days ago. The JF-17 is still preferable to having 35 year old vintage jets as a backbone like what the IAF has with them.

The Backbone of the IAF is the Su 30MKI.
The Jaguars, even though designed several decades ago, last came off the production line in the early 2000s. Plus the IAF has a wealth of tactics that will be very useful in a war.
Low level strikes are still a potent tool and the Jaguar is one of the best in this sphere.

So the Chinese have built 100 jf for you... So why the Junks are still there.... What can these do against Indian air Force!!??

Go and learn about the backbone and IAF .. first kid... Then come back and talk here
