I am surprised by the mindset of the younger generation. Do we expect Muslim Indian nationals to support Pakistan against India in case of war because of the religion?

Permit me to remind that only two countries out of the 193 member countries of the UN have been created based on religion alone. These being Pakistan & Israel. All other countries/nations are defined by their motherland (Mader-e-Watan).

Partition of the subcontinent was a political decision taken by the All India Muslim League because the founding fathers had the foresight to prepare for the eventuality where due to the overwhelming majority of the Hindu population; Hindu nationalists organizations such as RSS could gain a majority in the Indian parliament as happened with the BJP majority in the Lok Sabha.

On the other hand, many prominent Muslim leaders of the pre-1947 subcontinent such as Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, Abdul Mutlib Mazumdar( Assam), Abdul Ghaffar Khan ( NWFP/KPK), Abdul Samad Achakzai (Pashtun area of Baluchistan), Mufti Mahmoud( NWFP/KPK), Khizar Hayat Tiwana ( Punjab), Allah Bakhsh Soomro ( Sind), Ubaidullah Sindhi (Sind), Rafi Ahmed Qidwai ( UP) and Maulana Hassan Madani of Deoband were vehemently against the partition of the country along religious lines. Were these honorable persons any less Muslim?

Undoubtedly, all belonging to the Muslim Ummah are brothers and should help fellow Muslims in need. However, it stops when it comes to their motherland. The ground reality is that nationality essentially belongs to the children of the soil and is not related to religion. Anyone who has lived in any of the Arab Gulf countries will know the difference between the rights of a national & non-national Muslim in a Muslim country.

There are 170-million Muslims in India. Their past, present, and future are tied up with India. Anyone who expects Indian Muslims to be “Traitors” to their motherland is being extremely naïve.

Don't we find "Traitors" in Pakistan who are Muslim... and "Traitors" in India who are Hindus...
