Shahrukh bats for Pakistani players in IPL

The team owners of the India Premier League (IPL) have so far stood together on the issue of not bidding for any Pakistani players in the third edition of the event. They had come out in the media denying any foul play. But now a prominent voice among them has stood up and voiced his opposition to the issue. It is none other than the Baadshah of Bollywood, Shahrukh Khan who owns the Kolkata Knight Riders.

In an interview to a leading news channel Shahrukh Khan said "They are the champions, they are wonderful but somewhere down the line there is an issue and we can't deny it. We are known to invite everyone. We should have. If there were any issues, they should have been put on board earlier. Everything can happen respectfully,"

It may be recalled that Shahrukh Khan who had taken active part in the bidding of the players in the first season had shown keen interest in Pakistani players. He had roped in Umar Gul and maverick Pakistani pacer Shoaib Akhtar in the first season. Shahrukh's statement is bound to add to the controversy especially after fellow Bollywood celebrities Preity Zinta and Shilpa Shetty having gone out in full support of the fairness of the bidding process.
In a press conferecne Preity Zinta who co-owns Kings XI Punjab had said that "A lot of Australian players were not taken in the auction but zeroed in on that particular thing. So the idea of sensationalising the country's conscience is handlelled by the media. It is very, very important for the media to react sensibly,"
Echoing her Shilpa Shetty whop owns Rajasthan Royals had said that "Are we in a situation to provide security with certain political parties and lunatic fringes constantly threatening? I don't think that is something that we wanted to take the onus for. And we were the losers,"

very good speach but ... why he did not said that when he was told not to buy these players ? He said he wanted Razaq and was in direct contact with him as Razaq has also told media in Pakistan. But as media saying IPL did not allowed them to do direct bizz with him.

India did not thought this will go this way and first insult of Pakistan players but Indian has come worst out of it they did not thought thing will turn as they did.

So after my meaning now every person coming out and saying sweet thing is damange controll noting else.

They knew before auction that no one will buy Pakistan players why did not tell Pakistanies or tell them as it is.

.
i completely agree with u mr.420 except for the line "India did not thought this will go this way and first insult of Pakistan players" i think the guys were biznessmen n they jus tried 2 look at there commercial interest only as all matches were played in india "mumbai" as well.......................................

SRK must be joking, Why didn't his team bid for any Pakistani Players they chose Shane Bond after winning bit for $ 750,000. And they lost bid for Pollard to Mumbai.

He is saying this now because he need Pakistani audience for his films.

He didn't selected any players bcoz his team contains most number of Pakistani players.

I asked the same question, no one answered.

.
For starters SRK is no outsider, rather he is a team owner. One would have to be fool to believe that he did not have any information prior to the auction. So why did not he try to follow the "respectable path"? After all he is the owner of KKR. If he was so concerned he should have raised his voice before. Why trying to act politically correct now. Oh I see, he has a movie coming up. Hypocrite..!!!

. .
So SRK is the 4rth idiot?

Where was he jerking off when his team forgot to bid for Pak players, just like all other teams? Now he is playing all 'holier than thou'.

O wait...his film is all poised to make a release.

Who does he think he is fooling with this goodie-good?

.
Its just a Stunt .. His new Movie " my Name is Khan " is releasing next week i think .. so just showing Pakistani's Sympathy to Boost his Name ..

He is Owner of a Team .. Why he not Bid of PAK Players . ?

Guys.. Dont just read the text... See the whole video.. He is saying that its shameful that no pakistani cricketer is selected, but he is citing the same reasons as rest of the IPL for non selection.. Watch from 1:57. He says that it was a business risk because there are big issues between India and Pak at this time and they cant be overlooked. He is not recommending that Pak players should have been selected. He is saying that the non selection should have been handled better

He mentioned that "something distasteful" happened and that there were "issues". Obviously he's not letting out the whole truth, under god knows what threats and what sort of pressures.

Start of conspiracy theories.

Things are unnecessary being made complicated.
Given the situation, the owners were not sure if anything happened they will be able to get service of Pakistani cricketers. Since they lost money in IPL 2 because of exactly same issue they did not want to risk money.
They did not handled it well is something nobody is debating, but finding conspiracy in everything is bit too much.

.
My personal opinion IPL did not handled this well and should apologize to the Pakistani cricketers for the same.

1) Its an Indian Premier League.
2) Every team has investors and everyone thinks of their investment returns.
3) If Shahrukh, Shilpa and Preity are so sorry they would have rather bought the players for their teams. Sohail Tanvir did wonders for RR which is co-owned by Shilpa.

If they are not taken no need for apologies. Even many Indian players were no bided. Its no big deal.
