India working on Hydrogen reactor

Stupid move, better to work on electric vehicles than fuel cell based cars.

India is working on every options. Some kind of electric engines for vehicles are under development or prototype stage in ISRO/DRDO/CSIR etc. Though these technologies will take time to mature. At least not in the next decade I guess.

wow.... why bashing?? Some one is trying something... if it ends successful or failure it is always good...

It is stupid exactly because we are working on every option. We don't have funds. Having worked in a renowned research facility, I can say this is a problem. Using hydrogen means developing entirely new technology and infrastructure. Using electricity means existing infra and tech can be used. It requires less use of funds not only for r&d but also for practical utilization. Using entire funding on a single product than ten different kinds means faster, better result.

Who said we don't have funds?? Thats why we are working and progressing well in these areas.

Using electric also means developing entire new tech and infra.

In future, after dependencies on fossil fuels are reduced, people/countries will not depend on single source like fuel cell/electric/he etc etc. there will be multiple options available with their own advantages.

Research need a lot of fund. Yes we are progressing, but if we had more funds, we would progress faster. My own work went slow cause we had to use cheap/less items than we wanted. Seen other projects too. Had there been more funding, all the work would have sped up.

Not as much as hydrogen require. You can charge your electric vehicles at home. Ordinary electricians would do lot of maintenance work. Batteries, motors and other parts already available in market and can be used for many other purposes. In fact, not much research work has to done, already product available for consumer market and economical.

I don't have problem with working on other sources, I just think that at present efforts should be made to move out of fossil fuels and use resources available/would be available in the country. This should be done as soon as possible. Best way is to utilize all the efforts/funds in shifting to electricity. Once we do that, and reduce dependence on fossil fuels, we can look for other resources too. That way, we would be able to use all the money now going to petro-companies for research. Going for all options just make the system slow, and we would be depending on imports for a long time.
