24 January 2013, Pipavav Defence and
Offshore Engineering Company Ltd has
informed BSE that the Company successfully
delivered yet another masterpiece a 74,500
DWT Panamax Bulk Carrier namely "The
Golden Brilliant” on January 21, 2013, to
GOLDEN BRILLIANT INC., a group Company
of GOLDEN OCEAN GROUP LTD., a Company
headquartered in Norway.
Dimensions of the vessel are given below:
Length, overall : 224.9 Meters
Breadth, moulded : 32.25 Meters
Depth, moulded : 19.7 Meters
This is the ‘LARGEST’ dry bulk carrier of its
class ever built in India

why not go for building a/c and bigger ships in these pvt shipyards.

Building the civilian ships and the warships isn't the same thing.

Haven't you seen that Japan and South Korea can build those giant tankers much bigger than this, yet they still can't build the Aegis DDG with their own technology. :coffee:

:no::no:
They can built but they are not building that bez that will not be cost effective. They will do huge R&D for destroyers and than requirement is only for 5-8. Instead of that USA is proving them best tech with cost effective term.

Well, they are capable of building the hull of the Arleigh Burke class, but they don't have the technology of Gas Turbine/AESA/VLS.

Japan is so urgent to throw into a military race with China. However, China's J-20 has been fliying several hundred times, yet their own Shinshin is still a mockup.

This is the question of the potential military/R&D capability, not the cost effective issue. :coffee:

Bro, a noob question :

Can such large military vessels be made in a pre-fabricated way which is to say a one-fit all baseline hull with enough room to use different add-ons later on ?

What I'm trying to say is : A hull with enough space & the ability to be customized that one can either make it a dedicated Air-Defense destroyer or an Anti-Sub platform etc. just by tinkering with what goes therein & bolting them in over a period of a few weeks to a month or two instead of months at a stretch if not more than a year it takes to build from scratch ?

Only wiring of the destroyer will take more than 6 months. Let alone the other things.

I know thats why I was asking that can't those things be done in a pre-fabricated manner whereby you just bolt in all the remaining stuff later on because the underlying wiring & other such issues are already taken care off !

The design of the hull is used to accommodate the specific weapon system.

But Atato/Kongo and Sejong are basically modified export version of the Arleigh Burke class DDG, they don't have to design anything, but to basically follow the blueprint of the Arleigh Burke class.

Hahahaha something like mass production of individual parts and then quickly assembling them.
I won't blame you ;) even I was wondering that few months ago.
Technically it's not possible.

You just give me a sight of new gen of litoral combat ships of USA. I think 1st of them is USS Independence. It posses all capability what you illustrate here. It can be change with in less for intended role like troop transport/anti submarine/airdefence etc, while base will remain same. USN also going to replace there all frigets/corvet by this type of ship now. Just do google, you will find more. Upto I know, I think it is only one of its kind, but fcuking costly.

While the LCS classes smaller than the frigates they will replace, they offer a similar degree of weaponry while requiring less than half the crew complement and a top speed of over 40 knots. A major advantage for the LCS ships is that they are designed around modular mission modules allowing them to fulfil a variety of roles. The modular system also allows for most upgrades to be performed ashore and installed into the ship keeping the ships available for deployment for the maximum time.

The total projected cost for the ship is $704 million. The Navy had originally projected the cost at $220 million.

The Independence class carries a default armament for self-defense, and command and control. However unlike traditional fighting ships with fixed armament such as guns and missiles, tailored mission modules can be configured for one mission package at a time. Modules may consist of manned aircraft, unmanned vehicles, off-board sensors, or mission-manning detachments.

The interior volume and payload is greater than some destroyers and is sufficient to serve as a high-speed transport and maneuver platform. The mission bay is 15,200 square feet (1,410 m2), and takes up most of the deck below the hangar and flight deck.

Then please come back to India and advocate a military takeover to any Army officer and infront of the public instead of writing this ridiculous **** thousands of miles away of my home Mr. Keyboard warrior. But since no one of you online fascists have any guts or balls or the will to come back to India, I dont expect anything from you.

This thinking is obsolete since world war 2..

If you dont know anything, better dont write your nonsense...

I think I know that it took India atleast 2 decades to descide what are their requirements for MRCA and wt shld they buy ? :D :D :D
I know project LCA started early 90's but still its not mature, only to fly for tests :D

Wow!!!!!!! :cheesy:

Do you think the navy does not know about such missiles ??? Our ships have some of the best SAM systems in world. And CBG will have several escort ships.

I would appreciate if u can provide details abt single missile in ur arsenal that can counter super sonic cruise missile that can reach 4 Mach as integrated with JF

.
You want me to post expert articles where officials themselves denied it's ability to target moving targets, do you?

lolz... I think u have low knowledge.......
can u name this missile.....I think u even dont know the name of this missile :D

.
brahmos can reach mach 6.5 in terminal velocity. it is manueverable at 2.8 mach even US regards it at threat. Imagine Brahmos 2 with mach 7 crusing speed.

Everything jf17 wants is ALREADY there in LSP 3 Lca. U hav 26 in commission we have 30+ in prototype. Beat that!

1. MMRCA started in the 2000s and requirements always changed due to changes in the IAFs doctrine. The negotiations with Rafale are almost done, its just about the fine tuning now. I dont know how things go in your country but here it takes proper negotiations if you want to seal a deal for +126 4.5 gen fighters, full TOT and 50% offset and a total value of +15 billion USD.

2. No missile is invulnerable. And as I said earlier, a CBG will have several layers of defense: The fighters, the escort ships etc... almost all IN ships will be fitted with Barak SAMs which are one of the best short range point defense SAMs. The latest Shtils for medium ranges and Barak 8 SAMs for long range protection, once they enter into service with the Kolkata class stealth destroyers this year. And last but not least the CIWS guns which will welcome the missile with a wall of hot metal. The Vikramaditya alone will have 12 of these and will be protected like a fortress.

The radars and surveillance equipment are top class as well and include latest radar system and AESA radars.
Furthermore our navy officers know how to conduct CBG ops and wont come to close to hostile waters.

China isn't our enemy. pakistan is much too weak to be anywhere near the level of an enemy, it's more like a torn to our side. Our real enemy is dravidistan.
