BEIJING: Hindustan Times has claimed that India may deploy the newly purchased Rafael Fighter Jets equipped with the tactical nuclear weapons on Pak-China border.

India is likely to deploy the recently bought Rafale fighter aircraft capable of carrying tactical nuclear warheads near disputed regions with Pakistan and China, the Chinese state media predicted on Friday.

It was claimed by Indian newspaper Hindustan Times quoting an article published in nationalistic Global Times tabloid.

India recently signed a deal to buy 36 Rafale fighter jets from France for close to 7.8 billion euros ($8.7 billion). The delivery of the jets, which experts say will allow the air force to strike targets in Pakistan and China from within Indian territory, will begin after three years.

Indian Air Force is grappling with a drawdown of its fighter fleet. The IAF has 33 fighter squadrons, each consisting of 18 fighter planes. It requires 45 combat units to counter a combined threat from China and Pakistan.

The Global Times article added China’s neighbours, including India, are “hyping” the so-called “China threat” and have gone on an arms purchasing spree — a move that has increased the import of western-made weapons into Asia.

They threw billions of dollars for a measly 36 jets, and they aren't even 5th gen. This is too funny.

Those are F3R Standard Close To 5th gen in Advanced Avionics And EW wit Active Cancellation And With Worlds Most Lethal BVRs Meteor And MICA combination

Numbers are 36+18 as per IGA

Numbers are 36, and they will take a while to come. Not to mention it doesn't change the fact that your pilots are poorly trained and have bad communications. A tool is only as good as the operator.

Indian defence minister Manohar Parrikar and his visiting French counterpart, Jean-Yves Le Drian, signed the aircraft deal for the Indian Air Force (IAF) 17 months after the procurement was announced in Paris in April 2015. The IGA includes the option for 18 supplementary fighters at the same price, taking a flat 3.5% inflation rate into account.
