That's what I like about the Chinese. When they say they will do something, it's almost already done and often it's done before they talk about it.

E.g., Indians have been boasting about their IT industry, but when I look up on the biggest software companies in the world, not one Indian comapny is in the top ten and their aggregated revenue is merely US$ 89 billion in 2011, while China's IT industry is already over US$ 290 billion in 2011 with US$ 60 billion being revenue from outsource IT service, which equals 2/3 the total revenue of India's IT industry. And yet, one hardly hear people boasting China being an IT super power.

Because its not !

IT Industry Competitiveness Index 2011

Also China's software exports are mere 1.5 Billion $ in 2011. India's is 57 Billion $.

The Chinese are just being realistic. That's why I never see Chinese (media) boasting about Chinese IT industry and looking at the ranking, neither has India much to boast about and looking at the total IT revenue, It's way smaller than China.

You need to see the IT export revenues of both countries. You will know the meaning of the term 'minuscule'. Chinese media doesn't boast bcoz there is nothing to boast!

Software, IT service industry revenues up 32%|Economy|chinadaily.com.cn

HARBIN - Revenues of China's software and information technology (IT) service industry rose 32.4 percent year-on-year to 1.84 trillion yuan ($292.23 billion) in 2011, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) said.

The rise was 4.4 percentage points higher than the industry's average growth rate during the 2006-2010 period, according to an MIIT report released at an ongoing forum held in the northeastern province of Heilongjiang.

The country's software exports increased 18.5 percent from a year earlier to $30.4 billion last year, the report said.

The industrial scale of the country's software and information service outsourcing sector surged 39.5 percent from the pervious year to hit 383.5 billion yuan ($60.9 billion) in 2011, with software outsourcing exports up by 40.3 percent to $5.9 billion, the report said.

The report attributed the expanding industrial scale to the economy's steady growth as well as rising demands from domestic and global markets.

OK, India's IT sector earns 60% out of US$ 90 billion from export, while the Chinese make around 10% out of US$ 290 billion from export. And you guys have been laughting at China being dependent on export while India is producing for domestic consumption.

.
i would rather that they spent all those resources on buses and other public transport. Cars are too wasteful and put too much pressure on the economy

Exporting software is not the same thing as exporting toys, bras, tees, shoes, plastics, electronic hardwares, etc. We dont need polluting factories for IT. Our economy is and will always be service sector dominated

.
seems like a bit of exaggeration...... after all china has a larger economy and population than us..

.
I dont know what is the reason for this thread. Is it that we are comparing with CHINA on who owns most number of cars, etc.
also if we are about to be the largest number of car owners, then it means that we are going the pollute the planet with more hydro carbon fuel buring than any other country in the history of this planet.

Look at Waren Buffet and learn from his simplicity. Though being the wealthiest person in the world with 50 billion US $ ++ asset he still rides a cycle to his work.

Thanks god.. so far thread is not de-railing.... actually becoming a good ponder for us Indians... I am loving it!!!

Excuse me, India's IT export is only double the size of China's and the total revenue of India IT sector is but 1/3 of China's IT industry. I don't see India dominating, not in manufacturing and not in IT.

It's also laughable to boast that India's economy is and will always be service sector dominated, the truth is, India's economy is dominated by primitiv agrarian industry, as this sector employs the most people in India and will remain so for a very long time because the service industry will never be able to employ 500 or 600 million people in a poor country with little money to consume. I'm glad that my country still retains a large manufacturing sector, which is our strengh to come out rather bruiseless in the last three years while our neighbours, particularly the UK, is in deep scheiß.

Riding a bike or take the metro to work is a normal thing, even for people in high positions in Germany. I hope others like China and India, people will realise that a car is not a status symbol anymore, once the basic necessities are met.

what ever suits you mate.
we produce food for most of the world besides being the largest consumer after CHINA. you can have all you fancy machines but some day you have to look to INDIA and CHINA for your food needs.
Also because of late decessions in family expansion in every western country by married couple, you are also running short of man power to which some day you have to look at INDIA and CHINA to fill the gap.
