India has expressed interest to invest in building Bagerhat's Khan Jahan Ali Khan airport and modernising Saidpur airport in Nilphamari.

Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Harsh Vardhan Shringla conveyed the interest of his country during a meeting with Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister AKM Shajahan Kamal at the secretariat in Dhaka on Sunday.

The Indian envoy mentioned many opportunities for both Bangladesh and India to work together for further development in aviation and tourism sector.

Besides, the High Commissioner laid emphasis on renewing the existing Air Service Agreement (ASA) between Bangladesh and India, signed in 1960, reports BSS.

The minister thanked the Indian envoy for the proposal and expressed his satisfaction over the excellent bilateral relation existing between the two countries.

Terming India as the most trusted friend of Bangladesh, the minister recalled the Indian support during the country's Great War of Liberation in 1971.

Meanwhile, another BSS report said, India also wants to extend supports to Bangladesh to help the Rohingyas during the upcoming cyclone season.

The Indian High Commissioner gave this assurance when he called on Disaster Management and Relief Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya at the secretariat.

During the meeting, the minister informed the Indian High Commissioner that about 25,000 Rohingya families should be shifted to cyclone resilient shelter centres before forthcoming cyclone season.

In view of this, he sought Indian support for building new shelter centres.

The minister also sought Indian support for children food, dry food, gumboot, fuel and raincoat, and particularly child delivery materials for 30,000 pregnant women.

Maya also urged India to keep pressure on Myanmar for repatriating the Rohingyas to their homeland.

In reply, Shringla reiterated that India will remain beside Bangladesh on the issue of repatriating the Rohingyas to Myanmar.

Don’t let them put their dirty paws on our airports, don’t want a cesspit like Chatrapshivapati Airport. Whatever you call it.

Only in pictures. The world knows how Indian airports look in reality. Its dirty and stinky like the rest of India. Just finding one fake pic for propaganda does not make it real.
Ok. Please show us how to make and maintain quality airport like you have in Pakistan.

Beautiful or ugly, the point is why India should be allowed to finance in the construction of airports in BD? With Indian investment India will send its shoddy products that even the Indians will reject. An airport is more about building thick concrete runways that will not break when the arriving planes give a huge amount of thrust. Are Indian products good enough to withstand the thrust? Indians do not even know about our soft soil. Lol-----

Khan Jahan Ali can be arranged. Need that ASAP. But Saidpur is strategic. His main intention may be saidpur, Khan Jahan Ali used as detour. Already the coal power plant of Bagerhat is awarded to India, people will fly there or not?

Is that why Indian makers dominate your 2 wheeler market- the only segment of your auto industry that matters ?

A country like BD which is still stuck with mass stitching centers for industry shouldn't be commenting on quality of anything.

 We aren't that country in South Asia which is devoid of any engineering capability- so much that they pay through our noses for building basic infrastructure ($18 million per km for a normal rail line).

And we build airports which handle tens of millions of passengers per year. How many did your airport handle ?
