India has informed Russia of Pak-based terror groups like LeT and Jaish-e-Mohammad being actively backed by ISI and has appealed to Russia to raise the same with Pakistan.
NEW DELHI: India has asked Russia for technical help in monitoring ISIS activity on the internet with Home Minister Rajnath Singh describing the threat from ISIS as a matter of "serious concern", a departure from his earlier stand of downplaying the ISIS threat to India.

Singh also appealed to Russia to support India on international forums like the UN Security Council and FATF to corner Pakistan regarding the latter's role in terror activities. This is significant given increasing closeness between Russia and Pakistan in both military as well as diplomatic ties.

India's requests were communicated to Minister of Interior of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Kolokoltsev by Home Minister Rajnath Singh in a meeting on Monday. "Union Home Minister said that the threat of Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) is a matter of serious concern and there is need for close cooperation and exchange of information between the two countries and monitoring the activity of ISIL particularly in the field of media to counter the extensive media propaganda by the ISIL and the Cyber Space to combat close Jihadi chat and online recruitment," India later said in a statement.

India has informed Russia of Pakistan terror groups like LeT and Jaish-e-Mohammad are being actively backed by Pakistan's ISI and has appealed to Russia to raise the same with Pakistan during bilateral talks between both those countries. India has also shared a wanted list of at least 20 terrorists hiding in Pakistan, including the IC-814 accused, with Russia and pointed out that 17 terror camps are being run from Pakistani soil. India has specifically appealed to Russia, which is a permanent member of the UN Security Council, to support India at the forum when India raises the role of Pakistani state agencies in fomenting trouble in India by sponsoring terror activities here.

India has asked for help from Russia in the area of monitoring ISIS activities on the Internet -- Russia which has seen nearly 2000 of its nationals join the ISIS or influenced by it has a state-of-the-art cyber monitoring system to check such radicalisation. India has asked for technical help in this regard and also asked for cooperation in form of real-time information available with Russia regarding any Indians joining the ISIS from Gulf countries, officials said.

The Union Home Minister also mentioned that e-Tourist Visa facility has been extended to Russia in November, 2014 and requested for the similar facility on the basis of reciprocity. The visiting Interior Minister of Russia assured for the same and mentioned that the two countries will work in close coordination in this field.

The Russian side represented by a 7-member delegation meanwhile asked for joint cooperation in areas of law enforcement activity in Russia and India, counter-terrorism issues, measures against extremism and acts of crime in sphere of high technologies, IT and cyber crime.

Its really interesting now . What will russia do ? Confront pakistan at global forum or betray India when it needed ? Due to close ties emerging between these two ? I must say Putin is bit crazy now a days . I think cancer taking its toll on his brain ?

Well this was expected. Both sides Pak and Ind are sizing up each others patience levels and maximum support base. Pak feels the russian def relations warming is enough for them now to raise more slogan shouting, more diplomatic offesives and keep on raising Kashmir, Nuclear Bomb and Border firing to create a mass hsyteria among the world powers that they believe will ultimately compel India to either come to negotiations or control India thereby resulting in Pak's victory,,,

Unfortunately India has been slowly going about its task of showing restraint, keeping N talk minimal from its side (it shows maturity and responsibility), initiate more relations of strategic nature (Sri lanka, UAE, Canada, Australia etc) and using its economic clout ( a massive market, rising middle class, needs etc) and defense contracts ( France, Russia ect) or strategic insights (Israel, Iran, etc). This helps in creating more stress and heartburn in Pak and leads to more vocal loose statements from leadership and war mongering. It acts as a natural opposite strategy to what pak is hoping to achieve and without much effort from India. The catching of terrorists alive was icing in the cake as it helps increase more evidence with systems like GPS pin pointing the reality. Ultimately the strategy backfires on Pak

Russia may be warming up to Pak but the scope of economic cooperation and def deal biz like FGFA, New Ships, New Subs, missiles, SAMs, Long range radars, N reactors, Armata etc makes India Russia relations so much strategic in nature that this warming up is not so much of an issue to India, Infact its Russia which needs to worry if India does pullout its shopping list and dont put anything from Russia then Pak even with loans from CHina or other places also cannot shop or replace India at all. LOL, what came first....the Chicken or the Egg? The American jobs and investments or the India becoming a regional power? Everything India is today, its because of the US. Immature statements .... You dint understand our game here . Our aim is to isolate pakistan and put pressure on Pakistan to stop proxy war against India . And its a fair aim to achieve .

Another point you dint realise : All these countries talks against terrorism at global forums (atleast) some are genuinely engaged in combating terrorism . Lol ur failing to isolate Pakistan. Pakistan is getting closer to central Asian nations and Russia. With CPEC its impossible to isolate Pakistan now. Even the Iranians have considered joining in. The Russians are building a Lahore-Karachi gas pipeline. And are very interested in the Iran-Pakistan pipeline.
