India wants Bangladesh land for Agartala airport expansion

Instead of showing glossy images of airports, solve these problems in your cities first.
Lol, I didnt come here starting to compare Indian airports with Bangladesh airports. Its you who wanted to do that and were so sure that your airports are miles ahead of Indian counterparts.
The thing is Jh**** k barabar b nai hai.

Typical Jealous Bangladesh arse pretending like there aren't any slums in their developed country.

I dont know but it is a stupid idea from India. We abandon the plan to build the airport in Trisahal, Tangail 100 miles away from border only because the aircraft has to use Indian airspace at the time of emergency.
It will be a logistic nightmare to maintain a airport inside another countries' territory.

The point was that they do not need to spend money expanding the airport when they can hop over the border, drive forty or so miles and then catch any flight anywhere (including larger Indian metros).
Well, the distance is actually more than that. Even crow fly distance between Dhaka and Agartala is 90 km. Driving distance is 130km. And Tripura is a small state with just 4 million people. It is like our single district of Bangladesh. Not much potential traffic for us from there. We better not to take such hassle for such low revenue potential. They should build another airport away from border.

They are about where India was in 1990 regarding urban slums:

When their main airport has these many videos of the filth and squalor right at its entrance and parking....they know people will automatically deduce what the surroundings will be like too.....and they just get really internally upset at that....and feel their only response is try drag others down to their squalor-level.

Ha ha ha 'SA standards'. Stop spreading lies. Comilla (right next to Agartala) is reachable in 90 minutes from Dhaka. And this is when the four lane highway is under renovation. This is not your India. NEXT!!

Vehicles crosses Meghna-Gumti bridge without any traffic congestion on Sunday, May 26, 2019 Dhaka Tribune

Previously, it took eight to 10 hours to reach Dhaka from Comilla

Traffic congestion on the Dhaka-Comilla highway seems to have vanished like magic and commuters are now able to travel on the route in just one and a half hours. All thanks to the newly inaugurated Meghna-Gumti bridge.

While visiting different spots on the country's busiest highway, no traffic gridlock was seen at any place, though a different scenario existed on the highway, even a day before the bridge was inaugurated on Saturday at Comilla’s Daudkandi by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

While talking to Dhaka Tribune, Mizanur Rahman, a Comilla-based businessman, said he reached Dhaka's Jatrabari area on Sunday morning within one and a half hours, after starting for the capital with his family for Eid shopping in their private car.

"But a week ago, there was a different scenario on the highway," he said.

A painful traffic congestion used to prevail on both sides of the highway due to the sorry state of the existing bridges on the Meghna and Gumti rivers, he said.

At the same time, the second bridge on the Meghna river in Gazaria of Munshiganj was also opened to traffic, while two old bridges on the Gumti and Meghna were temporarily closed for renovation.

The distance from Comilla to Dhaka is around 97 kilometres. Several drivers said it would now take a maximum of two hours to travel on the route. And vehicles need not wait for long at the toll plazas of the bridges.

"So many thanks to the authorities, as we don't need to wait for long," one of the drivers said.

Previously, it took eight to 10 hours to reach Dhaka from Comilla, they said. "If there is no traffic jam, it should not take more than two hours. This will be a relief to passengers."

The second Meghna-Gumti bridge project engineer, Sheikh Sharifuzzaman, said: "These are the first steel structure bridges in the country, and the Gumti Bridge is bigger than the other one."

He said the construction work of the new 930-metre Meghna and 1,410-metre Gumti bridges was completed at a cost of Tk1,750 crore and Tk1,950 crore, respectively.

The Japanese firms were scheduled to complete the projects by June 2019, as per the contract. The government extended the deadline by six months to December 2019 after construction was halted for four months due to the Holey Artisan Bakery attack in July 2016.

Md Tazul Islam, general secretary of Comilla Bus Owners’ Association, said that traffic often crawled to a halt at the approaches to the old bridges. "Now, there is no chance of that," he added.

Your recent bragging only came about after Americans started getting sick of your whining/begging for H1B jobs. Even then most H1B's are lying cheats. So now you can afford a few decent airports.

Dhaka Airport had boarding bridges ten years ahead of Delhi - don't want to talk about the rest of your garbage airports.

Let me tell you a story. When 4 lane highway opened between Chennai and Madurai way back before sometime in 2004, travel was damn easy. 460km distance was reached within 7 hours by govt buses. Private ones reached in 5.30 hours. Now the same distance takes 9-10 hours, though somehow private buses reach by 6-7 hours. The reason is the traffic which has increased manyfold.

Bangladesh is in a condition where India was in 2004. With increase in usage of automobiles (which is again damn now) there will be traffic. And 90 minutes will become 180, then 240m. And not to mention the famous Dhaka traffic moving slower than a tortoise at 7km/hr.

Last but not the lease, Indian citizens cannot stand in lines getting BD visa everytime someone wants to board a flight from Dhaka to some destination inside India. We will force your govt to lease us some land. Its a waste land which will earn some money anyway.

Go east 10km away to the very expensive hills instead of asking for our densely populated wastelands and build as many airports as you like in your own land. BD is not your father's property.

As I said earlier, Comilla people are hotheaded. If you do not stop this ill propaganda the nearby landowners may even capture your airport. I am not joking. Private land is not Khash land that can be donated. Even then the most important point is sovereignty over the land.

Not with their army, just smugglers and for good reason, they do carry arms with them. Their government is not sitting in anyones lap. It's just we like to needle those loonies in PDF a bit. But their governments have largely been neutral to India at times side with India. Why a Pakistani expect India to fight with every other neighbors? We have very warm relationship with almost all our neighbors except Pakistan.

Not really, we worked the same with Nepal, or Bhutan at different levels. With time it will be implemented with friendly countries like Myanmar, BD. This airport is a special and unique case.
Kids, this is what a person with ammonia clouded brain would say

Iran Pakistan turkey and BD with Malaysia and Indonesia can form a muslim alliance equipped with nuclear weapons. I don't think Arabs are worthy of this honour. Future of Islam seems to associated with non Arabs now.
