when did english build dams on indus river on jammu kashmir to regulate its flow to pakistani regions?
I said about drwaing underground waters not dams.but give credit to british that they did build canal sytem in pakistan even that pakistan is unable to make proper use of.If that canal system would have been in india it would have made proper use of it like the Indira gandhi canal did wonders in rajasthan desert. and arid gujarat.

We are also building some dams on Indus river in Ladakh, hope Pakistan will this time too persuade World Bank that "India is stealing Pakistan's electricity."

to talk gently with terrorists is not an option, use of power is, i believe anything wont work without pakistan threatening military action, as blackeagle already pointed out egypt example, the river is our only source of farming, without which our sindh and punjab is drying up, if india persists with water blockage there will be a war just because of indian egos
What you'll do when rivers dries up and there were many which did dried up on indian subcontinent.Btw congrats Indus has changed course again and it gave life to many old lakes in gujarat after nearly 2500 years.

Water resource should be a red line for Pakistan. There is no way for Pakistan to show any tolerance toward manipulating with such a vital resource. The same thing happened with Egypt when Ethiopia was going to build a dam on the Nile River, and as a result Egypt threaten of bombing it regardless of any consequences as this river is an artery of Egypt. I think Pakistan should do the same and shouldn't show any tolerance toward this issue.

Problem for them is they have signed a treaty, which gives them more than 75 % of water entering Indus water system, but also allows India to build run of the river dams on 3 northern rivers.
Now every time they site a treaty violation approach the neutral arbitrator, they face major embarrassments , as

1) we are building all our dams with in the confines of the treaty and
2) they waste more than 70 % of water entering Pakistan to sea.

IWT is such, that no one party can unilaterally withdraw from it.
However if they would like to withdraw from the treaty, we would be more than happy to oblige and cancel the treaty ..as we too feel Mr Nehru was more than generous to award more than 3/4 of water to Pakistan.
If not they should quit the constant bellyaching and follow the treaty and, approach neutral arbitrator in case of problem.

All this talk of bombing the dams and baburs and raads is pure bull ..because they too know, once they open that gate, they would have spelled complete destruction of their country!!

Oh dont be so rude.British gave pakistan the pakistan.Isnt it the greatest gift.

world bank is just an organisation which the countries take matter to, it tries too, the issue should be solved by not building the dams, no country builds dams to control river flow to another country, i have already given you example of china not building dams so that it can irrigate its barren tibet, if china had done the same thing pakistan would have fought china but we have no issues

i state again, the illegal dams are the issue and india building dams is the clear indication of its illegal blockage of water coming to pakistan, these dams are a violation of IWT

Btw soon this month ICA c gonna give verdict on Kishanganga.so tighten you seat belts:D

Verdict on Kishanganga project expected this month

ISLAMABAD: Pakistani delegation left for Hague on Tuesday for the hearing on controversial Kishanganga hydropower project on Jhelum River. The International Court of Arbitration (ICA) is expected to announce its verdict till the next month, DawnNews reported.

The delegation, headed by Adviser to the PM on agriculture and water resources Kamal Majeedullah, will consult its legal team in London before going for the hearing in Hague.

The project’s hearing will take place from July 20 to July 30 in Hague.

India, a party to the project, will present its stance on the project in the light of Indus basin treaty.

Pakistan had earlier claimed that Kishanganga project was a clear violation of the treaty signed by the two countries in 1960.

Pakistan was of the view that, if the the dam was built then it would reduce water flow in the Neelum River and ultimately reduce electricity production of the country.

Earlier, the ICA had barred India from any permanent works on the controversial project on River Neelum at Gurez in occupied Kashmir in response to Pakistan’s appeal for ‘interim measures’ against the dam which may inhibit the restoration of the river flow to its natural channel.

ICA’s delegation had twice visited Neelum-Jhelum project, Neelum Valley and Kishanganga project.

Pakistan had submitted all the evidences and responses to the ICA.

Pakistan was more developed than India when the British left. Indian per capita income for the first time crossed Pak per capita income in the 1970s. You guys screwed it up after getting the better deal, blame yourselves :pakistan:

On topic: All such international cases are decided by the World Bank, let them decide (which they have decided against Pak sadly for you guys).

india is trying to irrigate the rocky portions of kashmir by illegaly holding on our river, what stupidity is this??

hahahahha, what a joke

the tata steel mills, aircraft carriers, and what not, british didnt give pakistan anything, the money wealth to be divided between india and pakistan, india didnt even bother to give pakistan its rightful sum.

But we are not stoping water, we are just producing electricity. You guys are jealous of our progress because you don't have electricity in Pakistan.

Baglihar is still standing after minor changes after the verdict and believe me it has improved the electricity and farming situation in kashmir drastically:enjoy:

what kind of idiot will farm in kashmir, kashmir is a rocky place, the farming cant be done properly in a rocky place, it is done where the soil is soft and productive, even weather in kashmir is against the logic of farming, this is you indians being a joke, atleast utilise the stolen water properly
