We don't need it.But we are a country that open doors to the world even to countries like india and companies like TATA. But I do doubt that TATA nano can get a pass from the safety supervising authority in China.

And about permanent seat in UNSC............Just like ppl were ranting here before Indo-US civil nuclear deal that "Its a Dream" and all that sh!t.

Just wait and watch Indian brothers... "Time" will tell them and shut there mouths on this very same forum.:)

.
why? g8 consists of america and its allies plus russia, why would anyone be surprise that india is viewed more positively overall here?

If China behaves in a more responsible manner and stops its hegemonistic designs by showing aggression and arrogance towards its neighbours, then it probably will be seen in a more positive light.

When was the last time China has fought a war? India? United States? Answer's right there.

It's not about actually fighting a war, for God's sake. It's aggressive posturing that's rubbing all the wrong way. Threats and intimidation is also part of China's offensive strategy - diplomacy by aggressive means.

And China has held out threats against Japan, Vietnam, India, Indonesia, Taiwan, Philippines, South Korea, Malayasia, and more.

And now for the latest....
"The Philippines is not alone in experiencing these continuous 'misunderstandings' and unabated attempts to undermine the legitimate rights of states bordering the South China Sea," Binay told the delegates.

The Philippines has repeatedly complained this year of aggressive acts by the Chinese military in the South China Sea, which is believed to hold vast oil and gas deposits, while also hosting vital global shipping lanes. The Philippines has accused its powerful neighbour of firing on Filipino fishermen, laying buoys on Philippine islets and intimidating an oil exploration vessel.

Philippines seeks ASEAN help to blunt China

Now does that answer your question?

Which is worse, talking trash or actually going out and hitting someone? In school, we all know that talking trash, the teacher doesn't punish you, but for hitting someone, the teacher does.

In reality, the most violent country in the world is the US, both internally and externally, so why do Indians not talk about the violence and aggression of white Americans?

Also, Koreans and Japanese have territorial disputes, as does Vietnam and Malaysia. China is even helping Malaysia maintain their air force. Do you think that if China did not exist that these countries will hold hands and sing songs? They'll be back to killing each other like stone age tribes!

Johannesburg: India finds itself ranked at the 27th place, much ahead of China but a little below its IBSA partner Brazil in a new survey that measures the reputation of 50 countries among people of the G8 nations. The findings emerged in a study undertaken by New York based Reputation Institute, which placed Brazil at 22, India at 27, South Africa at 33 while China at 43 on its list of 50 industrial nations.

The global study measures the reputation of 50 countries among people in Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, the UK and the US. Russia is placed a lowly 45, in the bottom 10 which ends with Iraq, Iran and Pakistan. Disclosing the findings of the study at the Johannesburg Securities Exchange, the managing director of the Institute in South Africa, Dominik Heil, said South Africa with its average score of 46.7 out of 100 was still viewed as having a weak and vulnerable reputation, although the situation was gradually improving.

Heil said that while it was advantageous for South Africa to be associated with Brazil and India with their reasonably strong reputations, it was less of an advantage to be linked to China and Russia.

The results were based on responses from more than 60,000 participants in G8 countries.

The ratings were decided on impressions of a country based on three main factors - the attractiveness of the environment, efficiency of government and how advanced the economy was. Canada topped the list with Sweden and Australia following.

According to the survey, South Africa's strong points were its natural beauty and friendliness of its citizens. But the country lost points on views that it was an unsafe country with inefficient government. "This indicates that we can improve our reputation by working hard on safety and effective government," Heil said.

C'mon nano is designed for markets like india and some less developed African countries. It is an insult to sell that kind of model in East Asia.

As for Jaguar and Land rover, they have British blood so maybe they still have a shot.

You guys have been waiting for 5000 years to become a permenant member of the UNSC I'm sure you can hold another 5000 years. After all 5000 years is no more than 1 second in some of your weird but lovely philosophy.

Reasons why India is seen more positively (better would be less negatively) by the people in the G8 are:
1. Ignorance. Most people just don't know India, except the association with Gandhi and call centers. When you don't care about something, chances are you are not negative about it.
2. The BIG country effect. Just ask Americans.
3.The knee jerk “they are a democracy so must be better than those commies" reaction.

As of now India is seen as an also ran everybody is sympathetic about, because everybody knows (or think to know) it is no threat. Let's see those polls in 5 to 10 years.

.
But India is a threat to the whole World! Someone needs to educate these G8 nations! :D
