Greater faith in DRDO AEW??
Perhaps the Phalcons are better off as acting as key centers covering with the DRDO machines providing the capability of covering
gaps. Much likes the spokes in a wheel.

Can I infer, that delivery of another 3 units, which is falsely reported as "2" in the media has some baggage deals which Israel is trying to get through before it signs on for the Phalcons. There is also a big issue with Israelis not wanting to work on the IL76 platform and are pushing for their own favourite air frame whereas IAF higher ups are divided on the IL76/Beriev A-50 platform.

Bigger reason for the delays are the additional deals that israel is trying to get before it signs the Phalcon. IMI weight runs throughout Israel. G550 is being pushed hard, so are the assault rifles, ship bourne radars, missiles, APS, and a bid to almost replace perfectly good systems on board the navy vessels. Russians are getting gittery.

Blind faith would more appropriate, they hoped that the DRDO AWACS would be available earlier and an additional order might not be needed. Sadly again too much faith in DRDO without a timely backup solution was the wrong way to go.

Except for operational restrictions, sanctions, nothing that could benefit Indian defence industry...

Just for your information, the most important weapons systems of Indian forces in the coming years are not C130J, C17, CH47, or even the Apache, but things like Brahmos, Barak 8, MKI, FGFA, MTA, the unrestictional support that we got and will get of these countries (and France), the ToT/JVs/co-developments in various fields that improved our defence industry and made even most of our foreign procurements even more capable, things that the US rejected in most cases. So please get a realistic perspective!
India is buying US stuff ONLY, as specialised additions in smaller numbers in niche fields, where their capabilities even in lower numbers makes it worth to compromise on restricions and beeing just in a buyer - seller relationship.
So we get the best from all sides, to our conditions and as long as the US won't offer a similar relation like Russia, Israel or French does, these countries and their defence industries will remain our prefered choices!

Thats exactly how the IAF wants to work... DRDO is working overtime to deliver this project. They are planning to build a desi-Phalcon.... Lets see if and when they deliver.

DRDO currently has no plans for 360 degree AESA platform.

Funnily enough you are right.

Israel jacked up the price of successive Phalcon resulting in IAF asking DRDO to provide the same.

US is honest about its price, support and political strings.

Agree with everything, except the word TOT... It is the most abused word on these forums... We have never achieved proper TOTs, else we would not still continue to be so pedestal in making even 155mm Howiters (for example). We just get a 'happy feeling' on the word TOT, but real IP knowledge has never been transmitted or transferred (which has to happen if TOT has to be complete in any sense of that word), thus making this word more useless than reliability of my model car's battery
