India unlikely to fine Russia for delay in warship delivery

thanks for your answer, this price does not include the planes, right?

No that would be seperate, infact to date we've been purchasing Mig 29K for INS Vikramaditya and possibly IAC 1. Naval tejas is touted as one of the options but given its troubled development history, there could be a surprise in form of Naval variant of Rafale maybe. similarly there are reports on IN showing interest in E-2D as well. so depending on the type of planes chosen the cost could well be another USD 1-1.5 billion

ur back..:smokin:..
@topic i think its a good move..we must move towards a strategic partnership than a pure trade one

Yes mate we need strategic partnerships in Asia, GOI sees Russia as one important strategic partner , Off late GOI is giving more importance to Indo-Russian ties since the strategic interests have coincided in the past , there is continuity at present and will also be there is future.

India is constructing a new ACC for a cost of ~$1.5-1.8BN USD. Construction is to take ~9 years.

And this is why the Indian defence market is becoming harder and harder for them to penetrate.

Yes for India the defence market is slowly becoming a Buyers market with western industry allowed to compete and am sure russia is realizing it. See how professionally both Boeing (P8I) and Lokheed Martin (C 130J) have met all their target dates something Russia can learn from.

Russians are far more reliable than the US. Building a dozens of aircraft in time is different from repairing, renewing and transforming a cruiser into a real carrier that has been rusting for years.

The Nerpa has been delayed because of the tragic fire accident.

Instead of looking at these 2 examples look at the neat delivery of 6 Talwar class stealth frigates, the support to build 4gen fighters in India (Su 30 MKIs) , upgrades of numerous systems, tanks, ammunition, ToT etc etc....

. . . . .
Russian has the Indians exactly where they want them, so much sink costs. India has no leverage over the Russians, you can't buy an ac from any one else, and the indigenous one is already behind schedule and don't get started on that rust bucket of virrat.
All India can do is throw money at the russians and hope they actually fufil their promise. But why rush when you can milk the money cow for a little longer?

nobody except Russia was ready to sell AC to India.

. .
Was there a contract? What does the contract say in terms of delays? I know Russian's democracy is iffy and may not play by the rules, but Indians?

Why is this in discussion? The contract should have stated everything right? I mean this is a deal between countries not mom and pops store.

.
imf will ring a few bells i suppose.

anyways, russia wont like to lose us as its biggest defence partner..

I was not trying to rattle the cage of Indians.

I was only trying to point to the fact that India is in no position to impose fines and levies on Russia because India needs the Technology and Russia has what India needs.

Beggars cannot be choosers is just a everyday English Expression, I was not implying that Indians are beggars. It is just an expression or a figure of speech.

I think you guys took it the wrong way.

Touchy ...Touchy.....

Please, Russia needs India more than India needs Russia. India has proven it has the will and ability to look to Russia's competitors for weapons/equipment. Indian funds have pretty much rebuilt the Russian arms industry after its collapse post-Cold War. No one is deluding themselves the Russians think of India as some sort of indispensable friend, Russia is just being pragmatic and right now India is paying the bills so the power is in Indian hands. It really is not all that complicated.

.
India cannot fine Russia because " Beggars can't be Choosers ".:D

Look who's talking....A beggar who was catching US's leg for money selling lands to China for money, bending down to US is talking about begging.... ha ha ha what a joke....Did you have food today?
