BD imports because it has big demand and cash money for power. India sells because of its people's low purchasing power combined with its hunger for cash dollar. India's current production is a total of 1,55,969 mW on thermal, 39,788 mW on hydro power, 28,184 mW on Renewable Energy Sources and 4,780 mW of installed capacity on nuclear. So, the total is 229 gW, which is only 190 watt/person.

India's total installed capacity stand at 303 GW in 2016 compared to 12.3GW for BD in 2016. India's per capita power consumption is ~1100 kWh compared to BD's ~340 kWh in 2016.....so you were saying something? Even though we sell, we still have much much better consumption per capita than you. lolz

India is producing only 200,000 mW of power when its population is a big 1,200 million, a paltry 160 watt/per Indian citizen. Same as with onions, Marwari India wants to pocket a few dollars by selling power to BD. In the process a wicked India is trying to engulf BD, which will be thwarted in the coming years.

Why should BD give India a power corridor through its northern neck when India doesn't give us the same for power to come from Bhutan and Nepal.

Your figures are all outdated.

India produced about 1208 TWh in 2014 (nearly 22 times what Bangladesh produced so about 3 times per person).

@kaykay already updated the installed capacity. Just one of our mediocre states produces/consumes more than the entire Bangladesh...and with much less population.

So don't whine about our low purchasing power when we produce and consume electricity per person what 3 bangladeshis do.

Our exports to you are pretty darn insignificant to our production (whereas its a sizeable amount of your total production)...and its good to make more money off you just like the huge trade surplus we maintain with you year after year which grows. I mean you have to finance the illegals we host here somehow right? We will take an extra profit on top of it too by having lots of high paid jobs in Bangladesh that it seems Bangladeshis are not capable of doing for some reason.

You dont produce and consume in Watts, thats a power rating subject to load factors. Energy is measured by multiplying power with time (eg. kWh)....learn the difference.

Myanmar is certainly an option, not Indonesia. However, Bhutan and Nepal may be other two options. We will be watching if our Chanakkya Dada would be willing to give us corridor for that. BD cannot invest in power in those two countries unless the big Dada concedes to give us the connection through its land. Big Dada is a little miser without a trace of generosity.

When bangladesh is india's mexico then don't you think you are biting more then you can chew? Atleat you dont have trump to make a wall and make you pay for it.
