India to supply Afghan Air Force with 4 Mi-25 attack helicopters

India will provide the Afghan Air Force (AAF) four more Mil Mi-25 attack helicopters this year, claims a top security official. In an interview with SNI news agency, National Security Advisor Hamdullah Mohib said two of the helicopters would be delivered to AAF by March.

Moreover, India had agreed to give Afghanistan another two helicopters by July this year, said the advisor, who has also served as Afghanistan’s ambassador to the US. The 35-year-old NSA, who arrived in New Delhi on Friday, has held talks with his Indian counterpart Ajit Doval and other officials. The security situation in Afghanistan, peace talks with the Taliban and the presidential election were the main subjects he discussed with Indian officials.

According to SNI, the US Strategic Partnership with Afghanistan and recent comments by President Trump on the then-Soviet invasion of Afghanistan were also discussed: on 3 January, the unpredictable man claimed " Afghanistan made it Russia, because they went bankrupt fighting in Afghanistan. Russia … The reason Russia was in Afghanistan was because terrorists were going into Russia. They were right to be there. The problem is, it was a tough fight. And literally they went bankrupt; they went into being called Russia again, as opposed to the Soviet Union. You know, a lot of these places you’re reading about now are no longer part of Russia, because of Afghanistan."

We welcome the 4 but GoI can do much more! An aspiring regional and global power needs to be more overt in pursuing her legitimate interests and providing significant air assets would be a start.

Now I am not advocating Indian boots in Afghanistan, we don't even need American boots, the ANSF can and will kick Tali rats but we need assistance in terms of military hardware, training etc.
It is the Job of the ANSF to defend afghanistan and not foreign boots.
