India is trying to engulf Pakistan by buiding bases around us.

Pakistan should do the same and try to gain military bases in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Myanmar.

Very true! who knew that the Gwadar Port would be so intimidating to these people. In any case this base should be properly survailled by the Pakistan Military and ALL overflights over Pakistani soil from hindustan to Afghanistan should be banned.

My question is what for?, why do they need airpower aound that area?

India’s first overseas military facility in Tajikistan is expected to become operational by the year-end as part of New Delhi’s thrust into oil-rich Central Asia to meet its growing energy needs.


India uses Farkhor principally to funnel economic and relief assistance it pledged to war-ravaged Afghanistan after 2001. Relief material is airlifted by the IAF to Aini, transported to Farkhor and into Afghanistan by road. Pakistan does not permit India overland access to Afghanistan.
India's energy requirements are expected to more than double by 2010 to around four million barrels per day (mbd) from 1.9 mbd at present. The country has been seeking alternative fuel sources in Central Asia through a combination of purchasing oil blocks, constructing pipelines and conducting barter trade. India’s recent diplomatic thrust into Central Asia for its energy requirements and strategic positioning through bilateral visits by senior leaders, enhanced trade and understated military agreements with some of the republics has also been triggered by the region’s security realignments.

The Indian Air Force (IAF) has denied reports that it proposes to deploy its MiG-29 multi-role fighters at an air base in Tajikistan that India is helping build and which is likely to be completed by the year-end.

Responding to a report, an IAF spokesperson claimed that the hangars being constructed by the quasi-military Border Roads Organisation (BRO) at Aini, close to the Tajik capital Dushanbe, were not being built to accommodate air force aircraft of any sort, including trainers.

Contradicting the news report, the IAF declared it was also not helping Tajikistan retrofit its Soviet era aircraft.
