And India did all this by knocking down some trees, as claimed by Pakistan. In short, Modi has made Imran Khan and Pakistan his bitch in just three months, and there is five more years to go. If India are genuine about turning over a new leaf and wanting to root terrorism out of the subcontinent, will they hand these self confessed terrorists over for trial? UN says lots about Kashmir as well. But UN legislation aside, you don't need to wait for international resolutions in determining targets of your war on terror do you? Balakot was a prime example of your war on terror, surely Hindustan should set a shining example and offer some truth and reconciliation over mukhti bahini, LTTE and others if it truly wishes the subcontinent to take its claims of wishing to turn over a new leaf and be on the side of the victims of terrorism rather than on the side of the terrorist?

Until you come clean about all your past and present support for terrorism, I'm afraid Sri Lanka, Pak and anyone else will trust you as far as they can see you.

Sri Lanka are a great Nation and they aren't so foolish that they will blindly trust you. They know only too well that if their interests ever malign against yours, you will resort to terrorism as a primary weapon against them. I for one would love to see Hindustan turn over a new leaf and abandon its terrorism support of years gone by. I will believe it though only when I see it. And guess what? All I see in Hindustan is self confessed terrorists being acquitted, elected and forgiven.

Serious question:
Should we trust Pakistan? Or for that matter, should any nation trust Pakistan?
The entire Crux of your post has been to paint India as a country that looks out for its interest only.
But the problem is, this is pretty much the same case with every country in the world. In geo politics, there are no friendships, only interests.
So why the special mantle for India that we should behave any differently and be altruistic to another nation, against our own interests, especially one like Pakistan which has proven to be not trustable?
Case in point: Kargil.

Pakistan’s trade with Sri Lanka comes to a halt

KARACHI: Trade between Pakistan and Sri Lanka has come to a screeching halt. The reason behind the stoppage is said to be the rising violence against the Muslim community in Sri Lanka in the wake of recent terrorism and suicide attacks over there, which resulted in heavy casualties.

“Rice and textile exports to Sri Lanka from Pakistan have stopped. Potato export has also reduced drastically,” said Pakistan-Sri Lanka Business Forum Chairman Aslam Pakhali.

“It is the Muslim community in Sri Lanka that imports Pakistani products and sells them there. They are partners of Pakistani exporters,” said Pakhali, adding that the properties of Muslims were damaged during the recent wave of violence over there.

“Their shops, super stores and godowns are being targeted. The goods exported from Pakistan have been unloaded at the Sri Lankan port, but the importers are not getting them cleared because of the deteriorating law and order situation there,” he added.

“The goods, especially fruits and vegetables, in godowns are perishing.

Sri Lanka is a major importer of Pakistani rice and textile products, but the exports have come to a halt,” he added.

Pakhali said a delegation of the forum held a meeting with the Sri Lankan ambassador in Pakistan and emphasised that the Muslim community over there be protected.

The delegation condemned the terrorist activities in Sri Lanka and condoled the loss of precious lives over there.

They demanded of the Sri Lankan government to compensate for the losses inflicted upon the Muslim community and provide them with protection.

Pakhali said, “The loss to the Muslim community by now is estimated at $500 million and payments to the Pakistani exporters amounting of $30 million have been withheld.”

He said the exports would not resume till the law and order situation in Sri Lanka improved. “Pakistan will face difficulties in achieving the export target in the final months of this fiscal year,” he added.

A Sri Lankan businessman Zainul Abideen told The Express through WhatsApp that the Muslim community in Sri Lanka was facing a ton of problems and was under siege.

“The law enforcement agencies are searching properties of Muslims. They are being attacked by mobs,” said Abideen. “Most of the losses to Muslims occurred in Negombo, Kurunegala and Puttalam districts. Violent mobs are attacking Muslims in the presence of security personnel.”

He said mobs were attacking Muslim neighbourhoods while the authorities were silent. “The national media of Sri Lanka is keeping its citizens in the dark about such injustice,” he added.

Recently a strong ISIS linked terror network has emerged within south India and Sri Lanka, the only way to stop it is with increased Indo-Lankan cooperation.

On a side note, it is kind of ironic that for all the talk about communal tensions in Gujarat, North India, and Assam, these terror groups are mostly operating in secular South India.
