"Shipments from India will be delivered to a southern Iranian port, where it will be further delivered via Azerbaijan to Russia by means of trains and trucks," Ashuri said, as quoted by the Trend news agency. He added that a test container train was shipped via the route two months ago. It took the train 22 days to reach its destination, however, the time of delivery is set to be later reduced to 19 days, Ashuri stressed. The deliveries on the INSTC route will be carried out via the territories of India, the Persian Gulf, Iran Azerbaijan and Russia toward the Nordic countries and the Northern Europe in 14 days. Nowadays, the containers are shipped from Iran to Azerbaijan by trucks and then loaded onto trains heading to Russia. The North-South Transport Corridor project aims to reduce the costs and the time of ship, rail and road deliveries to and from Russia, India, Iran, Azerbaijan and other countries located along the route.

Still expensive route and time consuming.

. . .
Of course, if it is an expensive route but it is the best route available to us to trade with Central Asia and Russia.
Expensive? Did you worked out the cost?
Did you consider cost of transport by sea vs land
Also the cost on road vs rail?

My take is it should be quite cheap considering India's trade is carried out from west shore and most of russian population also reside in west.

.
The cheapest whould be the transit through Pakistan, but sadly that is not possible.
Our only option would be this north south corridor that goes through Iran-Azerbaijan-Russia.

Oh, is it true?

Yes. It is because, for India, Pakistan will not allow to trade through its territory. Then we choose the best available option available to us. Unless, you have any better idea to suggest which we do not know..

The best route should be Modi to keep peace and friendship with the surrounding countries

The best route would be that of India's choosing based on her common sense and political climate, we don't\care for Chinese trolls dictating what we should be doing, likewise, we can educate the Chinese on many other routes when it comes geopolitics, does it look like your going to listen otherwise? I don't think so. Now go off on your merry way as you usual do. It would not surprise us not 1 bit if this thread ends up being a Trollfest like the rest of the others.

really ironic to hear CN flagger provide advise to Modi (or to anyone else for that matter) to keep peace with neighbors. Still it is good advise and I hope Modi will take it. He is after all a peace loving person.
You should also give that advise to Steamed bun!
