India to increase military budget 17% to Keep Pace With China

.
SIPRI estimates 2.1% of GDP for china and 2.7% of GDP for india
where did you get that 3% from? ur rear end? even the US DOD does not cite 3%

source :http://www.sipri.org/research/armaments/milex/resultoutput/15majorspenders

sipri doesn't quote the source for defence budgets, it only says that gdp numbers are IMF "estimates".

you can look at publicly available indian budget FY 2012-13 numbers at:

UNION BUDGET & ECONOMIC SURVEY
(see Budget at a glance).

defence budget: ₹ 1.93 lakh crore
gdp (fy 2012-13): ₹ 100 lakh crore

for fy 2011-12 the numbers were ₹ 1.64 lakh crore and ₹ 88 lakh crore

.

Translation: buy even more foreign weapons. :woot:

.

see highlighted: translation : Indian tech will also be 20 years ahead of Chinese. you will keep manufacturing pintos while India has Ferraris in their arsenal. that's what your own military chief said. India has access to the best in the world.

Btw- how many were you making internally when you had the same $ as India's GDP?

. . . .
congratulation india

good news

I hope a 20% next year

thanks mate .... while we keep the ratio to gdp constant.

... and the split of 20% remains even between inflation and real gdp growth.

It nice to know that chinese understand that India's peaceful rise is good for them, not bad.

:chilli:
very good news:bounce:

wow .. thanks for being double happy at India's rise.

you give a feeling you are more a nice canadian .. than a chinese.

Sir,

Actually it is the capital allocation part of the defence budget that is all important because this is the actual budget available for purchase of weapons, aircrafts, etc and this year the defence budget has allocated Rs.79,578 crore towards capital expenditure as against Rs. 69,199 crore for 2011-12. Should be interesting to see the comparative Chinese figures.
