India to hire 50,000 paramilitary personnel, build Unified spy grid to fight terrorism
The Centre is setting up a super spy network to tackle insurgency and terrorism.
The finance minister has allocated Rs 39,659.99 crore (up by 16%) to the home ministry, with a separate head for setting up the National Intelligence Grid, which aims to link all vital databases including individual tax, banking and travel details under one system.
It also plans to hire 50,000 paramilitary personnel during next fiscal.
Pranab Mukherjee announced ex gratia compensation of Rs 9 lakh to paramilitary and defence personnel who suffer 100% disability due to injuries while on duty.
Home minister P Chidambaram said, Its a balanced Budget that will promote inclusive growth. The FM used the projected increase in revenues to augment investment and larger outlays on education, health and security.
