Indian growth depends more on internal consumption, India is not that dependent on export not a export driven economy.

China has build its economy on exports. And now doing reverse by concentrating on Internal Consumption.

While India till now was dependent on Internal Growth, it now also seriously focusing on Exports Growth BECAUSE you cannot generate high growth by depending on Internal Growth Only.

And Mr. Modi's "Make In India" is serious step towards making India, Production Centre of the World.

We still need to improve our exports but focus on hi-tech products not cheap products where China has cornered the market.

You have India which can offer cheaper labour, huge domestic market and the ability to produce and directly export to other countries this is what the made in India campaign is trying to do.

There are issues around land reform and power which will need to be in place to attract the firms to come to India and start up factories.

exports do need priority, low end hi end china manufacturers everything. India first needs to bring foreign big time manufacturers big retailers like walmart to source manufacturing goods no matter how low end<thats how china started> anything even a small led lights or towels on a bigger scale will generate export growth and jobs.
Modi is doing exactly that asking foreign investments in manufacturing that is made in India is all about.

Good thing is that wages are rising in China, so the benefit to the manufacturer would be a cost saving element but the issue is land and power. Look at the episode with the Tata Nano plant in Bengal. Also many investors are put off by the tax issue such as what happened with Vodafone.

Your current wasted demographic dividend is 12 million due to unskilled labor.
And as of china ,if anything that could bring down its economy will be its popuation deceleration.
Secondly, one important factor that we overlook is corruption free govs. See demographic deividend policy works when you have proper regulations and policies not just in place but are implemented effectively. In that way the older population also adds to economy. India had a chance to play around with china's growth rate if india had enough skilled labor cuz china will lose 6million skilled workers in upcoming decade due to old age.

Most Important thing is India's Demography is Very Young, it is one of the Youngest in the World Right Now, and will remain in coming 3-4 Decades.

Right now the Primary School Enrollment has gone up 90%+ (good thing is this figure is true about both sexes i.e. boys as well as girls), yes it is true. And after achieving numbers in the school, Government is now making SERIOUS steps towards improving Infrastructure of the Schools, such as Building with proper class room facilities + toilets, India has already has credible "Mid-day Meal" scheme in Schools. This will improve the basic quality of the labor force in the primary market with in 7-10 years.

And as you are talking about Skilled labor force for Factories you should not forget India produces largest College Passouts in the World.

The India Science Report, shows that India had a total of 48.7 million graduates in 2004, up sharply from 20.5 million in 1991. And while just around 29 per cent of those enrolled for graduate courses went in for science in 1995-96, this is now up to 35 per cent.

Graduates in India? 48.7 million

See this is Level of Skilled Labor Force in India. WHICH NEEDS RAPID GROWTH TO USE IT'S EXPERTISE TO EARN THEIR DUES FROM THE SOCIETY.

So what ever perception you are having about India is totally false.

You might be making your perception based upon your experience what you have about Pakistan. But dude in India The position is REVERSE.

So Get Your Facts Right. INDIA IS FARLY SKILLED COUNTRY EVEN NOW TO HANDLE RAPID INDUSTRIAL GROWTH.

AND THIS IS WHY INDIA HAS ELECTED MR. NARENDRA MODI AS ITS LEADER, BECAUSE "INDIA WANTS RAPID GROWTH".
