India to buy $5 billion oil, gas from US & spend $18 billion in defence

Yes, you had to request for the oil waiver if you wanted one. It isn't something you buy from a shop.

India has good relations with the US, China doesn't. So India asking for a waiver is nothing significant. But it's really embarrassing for China.

But India doesn't need waivers from the US for buying weapons from Russia. India has made it clear to the US that India will choose Russia if sanctions are placed, so it's a no-choice situation for them. Anyway, they haven't given us a waiver there yet.

China is challenger of America. India isn't. India can't even put a rover on the moon, something China did 6 years ago. The day India MIGHT be challenger to America Americans add India to CAATSA list of enemies.

Rover on the moon is easy, it's late because it's just not a priority. It will happen in a month or two anyway.

India managed a successful Mars mission on the first try. No one has done that before. And China is yet to send a probe out to Mars. This is a bigger deal than just landing a rover on the moon that's just a few hundred thousand kilometers away.

The day India MIGHT be challenger to America Americans add India to CAATSA list of enemies.

Even if India becomes stronger than the US, we won't become enemies. There are too many things we have in common with each other. The US is mainly enemies to non-democracies and non-state actors. India is neither.

As for your Mars Mission, it's launched using a primitive PSLV and it's using i-1k architecture, can you explain to me how complex/advanced are those two technologies compared to what China has? :D. Cough cough US cough cough deep cough cough space cough cough comm.

Wrong to say ex-daddy. US is still their daddy along with Japan. Just ask @Viva_Viet
Hey cheerleader is backkkkkkkkkkkk. Hey your friend was telling us how great to be served by a white servant in another forum, you should cheer for him there too. :enjoy:

All we did in the meeting is present an ultimatum.

Here's Trump making his usual threats.

Erm why do you need to fly to US and 'present' an ultimatum. You can just use a phone or send an official statement, real powers don't even need give a f and just buy. Isn't Russia your daddy, now you got a new daddy, you leave the previous one??:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Defied? So means previously you are docile. This proves you to be even more of a poodle who 'defied' his master.:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:. You are explaining too much...as the Chinese say, explanation means you are covering up stuff. A poodle will always be a poodle. :enjoy:

Look at China, when we buy, we just buy, we dun give a fck! That's what real powers do. :china:

It's basic diplomatic etiquette.

Somewhat similar to what China did recently in their talks with Trump on diffusing the trade war tensions to a reasonable extent.

I don't see you sanctioning US either.

Does it make you weak?

Nope. It makes you sensible if you can lower the tone and manage to get benefits.

Your way of working is different. Chinese believe in hard stops in as many places as possible. We don't work like that.

If we seek a waiver, it also means that there are other benefits which we are getting with a constructive relationship with the US.

US doesn't see us as an enemy and we have no interest in being anyone's enemy as much as possible.

So what happens duringtrade talks? We ask permissions during trade talks? LOL.
We sanction US for what? You don't sanction people, you impose tariffs which both parties have done and to defuse it, you talk. We don't go there and ask permission to buy oil or weapons. Get it genius? LOL

Let me be frank here, not a bias statement, sovereign nations do not seek approval. US actually imposed sanctions on a Chinese general for the import of S400, we didn't even gave a hoot.

But ultimately you had to relent to US demands and discuss, isn't it?

We 'asked' for waiver because we are importing weapons from both the countries. If CAATSA is enforced, a needless amount of tensions would have been there between India and US and all the hard work to improve ties since 2001, would have been wasted.

Boohoo.

Big deal, Until 2016 even ISRO was sanctioned by US for dual use technologies because we had not signed COMCASA and LEMOA.

The result?

ISRO developed things in-house and now is completely self-sufficient including cryogenic engines. While space companies want to collaborate with ISRO in the defence field today, for space applications, ISRO has rejected any advances very politely.

You want to become another pole contender to the US and are working towards that.

We have no interest in being an 'alternative'. As long as our national interests and security is up to our expectations, we are quite happy.

Now let me ask you one question. What is the difference from buying oil and gas from Saudi, Grain from Australia and Meat from Brazil to buying meat, oil, gas and grain from US? You need to understand the art of negotiations. Imagine if we just say yes to US demands straightaway and then do you think they will value our actions? Imagine if we stall them, make their life hard and play hard ball, make Trump desperate to show voters he balanced the deficit, and then 'promise' them we will balance the trade in 6 years. See then the value becomes different. Trump is the hero now. It is only natural to balance the trade with US, we can't be having 300bilUS$ deficit forever man. It's just business, if China don't balance it, they get tariffs, any sane country will do the same, only weak countries like India is helpless against it.:enjoy:.

The point is do we need US permission to import oil and weapons?:D

Exactly my point, you used to be just a Soviet poodle, now you new master is the US. Why do you think you get access to all those previously denied weapons from the US. US only give dogs dogbites when they get leashed and do a rollover.:rofl::rofl::rofl:. Still doesn't answer why so called 'sovereign' India need to go to US to ask for permission to buy oil and weapons.

ISRO got sanctioned and guess who which papa handed you 'cryogenics' and guess who hired 'consultants' from Russia.

1- We are not seeking permission to import oil. If we get a better deal from them, which we have, we bought it. Remember, a bulk of our oil flow comes from Iran and Middle East (Over 120 billion annually).

2- You don't import weapons from US so you don't have to ask their consent. We do. So we need to assure them that their interests won't be harmed. The interesting point is, they actually relented to our assurance.

We don't deny that we have much to catch up to in terms of self-reliance, but we don't see US as an adversary, hence we don't need to take a confrontational approach.

During cold war, we had enough confrontations on numerous issues, especially after 1971.

Things change.

Just that your approach and ours is different.

You and US feel that anyone who doesn't agree with you is opposed to you; but in reality there are more than just one or two paths.
